Build for Aveline?

I'm playing on nightmare difficulty and am currently level 8 and hoping to get some advice on what abilities I should pick up with Aveline. The problems I am having are she seems to have difficulty getting and keeping aggro and also in harder fights she often dies even with a mage healing and potions. I am hoping someone could give me some pointers on what abilities I should spend my points on and which sustainables I should be having her run in order to manage aggro better and keep her alive longer. Thanks in advance.

The key skills IMO are (upgraded) Shield Defense and Taunt. Shield Defense for the massive Damage Reduction and Taunt for all (or most) of your aggro management needs. I also take Shield Pummel and Pommel Strike for cross-class-combo action. Stonewall from the Defender tree will be useful if you like to drop friendly-fire abilities onto Aveline.
Battle Synergy and Bravery have some threat augmentation upgrades, but I'm skeptical of their utility for Aveline, since she doesn't put out enough DPS to make it worthwhile.
A little further out, the +10% DR from Aveline rivalry and +15% DR from Thick Skin promise to make Aveline tougher than most Hawke Weapon and Shield builds.
