In my file I didn't kill her, so I'm not sure why she even needed me to do that.

You take the amulet, and summon a fragment of her power over to the Free Marches... when the Warden beats her face in on Ferelden, she'll live on through that fragment, eventually regaining her power...

Least, that's what I'd assume.

Lets hope for Morrigan on Flemeth destruction!!

You release Flemeth's fragment from the amulet after the Warden defeats her and the archdemon. Remember, in-game Hawke goes to Sundermount a year after the evenst in Lothering, well after the Blight was defeated by the Warden. Flemeth foresaw Morrigan's betrayal and took the proper percausions. I wonder who it is she mentions she has an appointment with when she leaves Hawke and company on Sundermount...?

It was still a possibility at the time she would die by the wardens hands. Hawke meets her pretty much right after she sends off the warden so the warden hast had time to find the black grimoire and decided to help morrigan or not. Hawke wouldnt know whether or not she died so he would do the ritual even if she was dead or not.

Even Morrigans tells you, if you went and killed Flemmeth, that she does not believe Flemmeth is truly dead, or can even be killed by normal means. Flemmeth is more than just a sorceress or abomination, and I think killing her body only temporarily disables her. She seems to be a being who is far more powerful and extensive.

Hell, to be honest, even if Hawke never brought the amulet to the Dalish, Flemmeth could still be "revived" by other means elsewhere.
