Hey Bioware, how about giving your Baldurs Gate IP to Bethesda? Then I don't have to worry you shafting one of the best PC titles of all time into consolation hell.

Thank you!

If Bethesda had control then we'd at least be able to mod it into something good.

Depending on how things with DS turn out. Obsidian is my first choice for Baldurs Gate 3.

DS3 to one click or not to one click that is the question.

Agreed, Obsidian would be my first choice as well. Some of those guys used to be Black Isle.

It's not going to happen, though. Something about not having the rights. IIRC, Atari have the rights to all DnD stuff. Might be Interplay, actually. Not sure.

Also, Throne of Bhaal was technically BG3, just shortened a little and made an expansion pack. I think Gaider confirmed this a while back.

Well there was a rumour about IWD3 they would need the rights to make that anyway. IWD would also be a good dry run for BG3.

If you can get IWD right, then it's just a case of adding the NPCs and being more story focused. Both areas Obsidian excel at.

If memory serves me right, throne of Bhaal had a very satisfying conclusion. So BG 3 would be unlikely. Although I would be very excited about a sequel to a game that turned me into a Bioware fanboy.

But Bethesda games are completely different from BG types of games, it will not be a BG. I'd prefer Obsidian over Bethesda.

Bethesda are doing exceptionally well stuffing up their own games thank you very much. In fact, as bad as the reaction has been to Bioware's new game, it's nowhere near as bad as the community backlash Bethesda suffered over the tripe they called Oblivion. A significant number of the forum were banned, forum names were censored (which was utterly ridiculous), the community devs went into hiding for what seemed like months and the community forums ended up being policed with an iron fist.

It must have takenhalf a year for the forums to settle, very funny stuff

I think BG IP is owned by Atari, can't be sure though, but definitely not Bioware.
I am one that would love them to do a new BG, many devs from the initial game are still around, question is how much creativity and freedom would they have to do such thing, and after the DA2 disaster one can only tell that Minsc would be “converted” into an Elf princess with gloomy eyes and serious breast power…
My vote would go for Bethesda/Obsidian

A lot of Morrowind fans would probably LOL at that comment.

Obsidian need to learn to get their games finished by the release date before they're given the keys to BG3.

If ANYONE make BG3 I'd be pissed. It came to a very satisfactory conclusion, and there is no way we could get another DND RPG with the same protagonist using 2nd edition rules. It would be a spin off at best, just using the name, and thus really doesn't need to be made.

Baldurs Gate is a city as much as it's the Baal Saga. Just like the various Waterdeep games.

Yes, Atari currently holds all publishing rights for Dungeons and Dragons game and that would include Baldur's Gate.

How could anyone want Bethesda to touch the Baldur's Gate series...

I wouldn't mind Obsidian trying to make a sequel, but my first choice would be BioWare.

Except BG2 took place in and around Athkatla, and BG:ToB took place in and around Saradush. Baldur's Gate was the Bhaalspawn saga.

Also, you were saying above, a new IWD would be incredible.

Creative Assembly should do Faerun: Total War.

This post really doesn't belong in this particular forum though.

So, if they are allowed to strip BGII down for BGIII, why are you anything about anything Dragon Age related? Just seems weird.

Not trying to jump into Bethesda's defence but they have a very professional approach to whatever they do, and when they do it, they do it better.
Ok, they're not good with story telling but they just have to give a job to David Geider...
