So they can make an action game with some loose RPG elements like Fallout?electroban wrote...
Hey Bioware, how about giving your Baldurs Gate IP to Bethesda? Then I don't have to worry you shafting one of the best PC titles of all time into consolation hell.
Thank you!
I pray Bioware does not make Baldurs Gate 3

Bethesda does differenT types of RPGs.
Yes they do but whose looking for an exact remake?
If Bethesda remade Fallout 2 into Fallout 3
Im fine with letting them do whatever to Baldurs GAte 3
Your reasoning does not add up. You say Bethesda can do what ever they want with BG? Like Bioware did with DA2?
Why not just let Bioware do what they want then!

You don't mind that it takes you five minutes (exaggeration) to walk across the screen?
EDIT #2: And I'm not starting a fight but IMO a true classic game should be able to be played Vanilla and still be a great game.
I'm just saying back in the day it seemed like Goldeneye was the best game ever. If you fire it up now I promise you're going to get frustrated with the controls.
Most games don't age well. Some of them are timeless. Baldur's Gate isn't one of those.
Boots of speed are usually the first thing I go for when starting a new game. It's debatable whether the widescreen hack is considered 'un-vanillarising' the game, but I can see where you are coming from.
For what it's worth, I still think it holds up well. It's absolutely quality. Granted there have been numerous advancements in both graphics and gameplay, but that does not diminish the absolute quality of the game. This is all subjective of course, but I suspect i'm on the right message board to get a lot of agreement for that comment;)

But New Vegas isn't really an example of Bethesda's ability with story/character writing and implementing. It was developed by Obsidian.
Forgive my momentary loss of composure but after the wretched video game abortions that was the Baldur's gate dark alliance games. I don't want anybody other than Bioware or Obsidian to even consider another BG game. They are the only developers that worked on the original series, and the only ones I'd trust to do it right.
Honestly, I really don't know where a BGIII would go, story-wise, without forcing a choice at the end of ToB on the player, which is the sort of decision I tend to despise. Your grand story is pretty much concluded at that point, and a game of little sidequests where you go around fixing everyone's issues (sure Keldorn, I'd love to go back to Athkatla with you and play marriage counselor again!) just doesn't seem quite as enjoyable.

I don't understand the venom. It's not like Dark Alliance ever pretended to be Baldurs Gate. The game was set around Baldurs Gate so the name made sense.

Atari holds the license, but I don't see it likely that they would make another BG game. The story came to conclusion, so anything after that would be something unrelated. And in case of BG, they would really need to make a proper classic style rpg if they were to impress the fans of the original saga. Making a game like DA2 would be sacrilege in my books. Nevermind Dark Alliance...
Sorry but, you do realise that Baldur´s Gate is a place, a city in the pen and paper called Dungeons & Dragons. A lot of new stories could have been told there. Black Isle was in facto working on BG 3 at the time of closing, i think it was called project "jefferson" at the time.

What's the deal with Hunted:Demons forge ? That seems a bit out of character for Bethesda.
There are two Bethesda's, publisher and the developer that makes TES and Fallout games. Hunted is published by Bethesda, the developer part has nothing to do with it. Just like with WET and Rogue Warrior.

Because their bug lists were longer than their games.

They take a wrong turn or two with Dragon Age II and suddenly Bioware loses all of it's credibility?
Man, they've really spoiled us <_<

No, Bethesda the developer does only Fallout and TES games. WET was developed by "Artificial Mind and Movement" (Currently known as Behaviour Interactive).

No way man. Fallout 3 was very, very weak compared to New Vegas. The dialog was atrocious as the side quests were very lazy and boring. What about Fallout 3 is epic? That louzy giant robot?

Leaving the vault and staring down at the capital wasteland, it jsut had better "moments" than Vegas. Both good games, both have their faults.
