when creating cinematics? what file type does it save as? is it possible to save it or convert it to a wmv file? or similar? mpeg? avi? etc? im interested in using the toolset to create my own movie.

So far as the toolset is concerned, I think it just saves cinematics as directions for the camera and actors in the game. If you want to make a standalone movie, you would want to use some video-capture software to record it.

any recommendations on a good video capture program, ive tried fraps but it usually loses half the FPS when recording

They'll all do that. You'll need a good CPU/RAM for stuff like screen recording. Recording uncompressed might help.jedirogues wrote...

Use xfire. http://www.xfire.com/downloads/ Once you install you'll have to create an xfire account, but it's free and easy. I went through several programs last night trying to find one that was free, didn't leave a watermark, and didn't have a time limit. This is the best I found.

There is supposed to be some kind of console command that could be used to record cutscenes without using an external program but I could never get it to work in the beta. I have used Fraps ro record cutscenes.
