bah. This is so lame. Wish I hadn't done 'Fool's Gold'. :/ Ah, well. Looks like I'll have to wait for my next playthrough. Stupid that we're being punished for trying to do every little side quest.

Edit: and now I continue to read this thread and see that some people who deliberately skipped 'Fool's Gold' still didn't get the quest. I'm going to be very angry if this happens to me. BioWare, if this is a bug, FIX IT!!!

I've heard you can use the console ingame to force this quest to activate or something.

Wait, wait. This IS a bug. I imported my save, and according to the official guide 'Fool's Gold' is only available if Nathaniel died or if you use the default prologue background. With my choices, I shouldn't have gotten 'Fool's Gold' at all. This game has my Nathaniel flagged as dead, just like the annoying Conrad Verner thing in ME2, doesn't it? Only this is so much WORSE. Nathaniel is one of my favorite characters and I want to see Carver again. :( Plus, now I won't be getting Verric's final armor upgrade.

Please, please fix this. Don't just leave it broken like the Conrad quest, and Sigrun's in 'Awakenings'. People who play on xbox deserve to have things fixed, too.

Wish I could do that while playing the PS3 version! Despite going back after every sidequest and plot related quest, Delilah Howe was never by the Chantry in Act 3. :( So now we have to play again without our import but rather with the Martyr preset, since the guide seems to indicate that will allow the quest to be triggered. But I'm still pretty bummed not to be able to import our Origins story into this game since by all means it should have the same effect.

Yeah, Nathaniel is definitely one of my favorites. I felt the exact same way!:( I was really disappointed not to see him again, since I was looking forward to it ever since I learned he would have a cameo.

Played as a mage, made Carver a Grey Warden after taking him to the Deep Roads, and he did show up for the final battle, for what it's worth! Hope that helps.

Fool's Gold in Act 2 shuts this off, you can reactivate it with the console command runscript zz_dae_debug

It's listed in the side quest off quest catagory of act 3 finding Nathaniel if I remember right.

Was a pain to find, had to go to Plot Jump-->Secondary Plot-->One Offs-->Work With a Plot then I found Finding Nathaniel.

If that's true, it would explain why I didn't get it. None of my Wardens spared him, ever. But that's a pretty silly condition to getting the quest, really.

For the PC users you can reactivate Finding Nathaniel with zz_dae_debug, go to side quest - off, Finding Nathaniel initialize.

In my Awakening import, I killed the Architect (Nathaniel was a Grey Warden and survived Vigil's Keep). I am trying to reactivate the quest using zz_dae_debug. I have located the quest using the instructions (thanks!!!), but I am unsure what to do next. There is a link to Awakening Flag plots -- I selected Architect spared and left the rest alone. Is this sufficient to get the Finding Nathaniel quest in Act 3? Or is there something else I need to do!!! Yevran (giver of the Fool's Gold quest) is still at Hightown, even after my attempt to activate Finding Nathaniel.

I just started Act 2 with my mage. Since I really want the Nathaniel quest, what exactly are the requirements for the quest?

My Warden let Nathaniel live, let the Architect live, saved Vigils keep. That enough for the quest, or is it really bugged?

Based on my "understanding" of the requirements, you have satisfied the import requirements. Do not do Fool's Gold in Act 2, as this shuts down the Finding Nathaniel quest in Act 3. What is not clear to me is if once the option to play Fool's Gold is available, if it shuts down the Nathaniel quest. Anyone know???

I was able to use the debug program to activate the Nathaniel quest. So, that's always an option (albeit a crappy one).

How did you guys activated this quest? I can accept the quest with the plot flag but wanted to get the quest from the conversation with Nathaniel's Sister, is that not possible by doing it with the dev console?

I should have had this quest from the start but instead that lousy fool's gold happened Nathaniel live dangnabbit!

It sounds like I did the same as you -- I could get the quest through a cut to the Dark Roads. I did not get it through Delilah.

Yeah, damn Fool's Gold and buggy DA2 :pinched:

i really wish bioware would post up an actual list of bugs they officially plan on fixing, im on my second playthrough and I would very much NOT have to restart AGAIN by either redoing DA2 OR DAO and Awakening AND DLCs. I have the guide and was so looking forward to seeing Nathaniel as I've seen the other 3 cameos that are expected from my imported game. Nathaniel is the only one I'm missing. And I know he lived, I spared the arch guy tho I saved Amaranthine, which from what I know shouldnt effect it, and Nathaniel lived in the end. I play on the 360 so I don't have the luxury of forcing it to happen :( and the only other bugs I've run into is the Who needs rescuing, err I think thats what its called (the one from act 3), the exiled prince achievements, and the few where if you pick up the required item before someone finishes talking it wont trigger the other part of the quest, thankfully I am an save every 10-15 minutes, and multiple save files person lol.

*sigh* Bioware I want a official list of bugs that are gonna be patched!!! I have yet to find a post by them stating what is gonna be fixed :( I don't wanna have to redo everything :(

Has anyone done a playthrough where you saved Vigils Keep, made Nathaniel a Warden, and did his companion quest and still got the quest or not?

Nathaniel lived in all my plays, because i needed a thief. I eventually liked him.

I have the same problem....................No Delilah.

Imports are buggy. In my save file, Nathaniel lived but when I looked at the file, the plot flag said he was "dead."

I had this problem, too. I reloaded my pre-Mother Awakening save, and checked everything -- sided with the Architect, spared/recruited Nate, and he survived Vigil's Keep. Still didn't show up when I turned Bethany into a Warden(I thought I read that he was supposed to be there for that...). In Act 2, Fool's Gold was available, which means the game thinks he's dead.

Ugh.
