So,  I decided to help Fenynrials mother as my first task since returning from the expedition.

SPOILERS:

So you enter the fade, you pick 3 heroes,  Anders seemed fine, or should i say justice.   But Avalene and that elvish warrior (forgive me i just woke up i forget his name) can't seem to handle it,  neither Avalene or the warrior are very high when it comes to friendship,  and it seem's no matter what dialogue choices i make,  they always turn on me,  it's impossible to beat the warrior because he just 2 shots all of my party,  avalene i can do without, and beat her easily.


I'm figuring since they are neither friend nor rivals,  none of the dialogue choices i make matter,   so do i need to bring friends in with me to convince them not to listen to the demons?   i tried everything and it's completely unbeatable,  i had to load the save from when i got back to the expedition and ignore that quest for now,  has anybody had any experience with the fade?

Heh I enjoyed Male Hawke's delivery of the aggressive line to Aveline. Made me laugh. I'l knock your bloody head off!

Someone will always betray you. Bring Merril if you're having problem though, she's extremely easy to take out. In fact, 1 Archer's Lance took out the demon and Merril at the same time for me on nightmare...

thanks, it seems like fenris was just the only reason i couldnt beat it, too strong. (regretting my choice to roll rogue now)

I was scared to death when I did this quest: I thought I was actually going to lose them in my party.

I didn't. @_@

The first time that happened, I focused on the demon instead of killing Merril first.   Merril took out my entire party with firestorm, fireball and tempest.  After I reloaded, I took her out pretty quickly.

Did anyone else have a problem with not getting the item the keeper gave as a reward?  This is the second or third time I was given an item something and it did not turn up in my inventory.

I had trouble with Fenris too. Before the fight I removed all his gear. It seemed to work since he didn't 1 shot me. I was trying to friend Merril so I did bring her. It's funny, in the conversation she says she wants to come, but when I brought her I got +5 rivalry.

Strange. I didn't get any rivalry when I brought Merrill. There are plenty of ways you can get it through conversation there though.

I brought Anders as well. He and Merrill make dealing with demons an absolute nightmare. If I help a demon, Anders gets mad. If I refuse, Merrill doesn't like it. The funny thing is, if you first agree to help Torpor, Anders (Justice) will warn you and THEN you can refuse. That way both Anders and Merrill are happy, and I believe you even get friendship with Anders.

I Had friendship with Varric, Merril and Isabella. the two girls turned on me, there was no option that this wouldn't happen. I tried all possibilities.

However, after I completed the quest, 2 new quests appeared in my journal; apology quests for both isabella and merril. after completing these, i got positive points, reversing the negative shift, and an additional +5.

Yeah, I had Varric and Isabella capped on friendship at that point when I went in the fade.  Fenris wasn't friendly or rivalry capped.  Either way Fenris and Isabella betrayed me.  With Isabela, I expected it and found it hilarious about "I love big ships and I cannot lie" line.

Check the junk section of your inventory - You'll see it there.
