I had my Warden perform the Ultimate Sacrifice. I then imported him into Awakening, Amgarrack and Witch Hunt, in that order. I then used the auto-save at the end of Witch Hunt to begin Dragon Age 2. Upon speaking to Bodhan for the first time in Kirkwall, he mentioned how much of a shame it was that the Hero of Ferelden died killing the Archdemon.
I realise that this actually did happen, but I was under the impression that importing him into Awakening overrode this fact and that my actions in the expansion and DLC modules would count as the canon. Is this a bug and can I do anything about it?
It should perhaps also be noted that I never downloaded the Awakening patch, because I played it off the disc and was done with it by the time the patch was released.

I don't think this is a bug? The way I read it in the forums, if you made the Ultimate Sacrifice (my warden did, and Bohdan said the same thing) then you had the option to play the DLC with your warden so that you didn't have to start over again, and so that your choices about what happens in the world would carry over into DAII but your warden will still be considered to have made the US and someone else will have made all the other events happen.

I suppose that's fair enough, as long as the things my warden did post-mortem are counted as having happened -- even if by the hand of some other, unspecified individual. Sad that it probably means Anders won't have known him, though.
Thanks for the reply. =)
