Since companions don't equip armour, you only need to worry about the one attribute to get them the best weapon.  Str/Dex/Magic.  With this in mind, has anyone looked at not building them with the normal seconday stat?

Like, for warriors making their secondary cunning instead of constitution.  Would Aveline tank better by dodge rather then HP soaking?  Would Fenris survive fine just by that dodge?  Would the critical bonus make up for any deficiencies in survival if not?

For Merrill, seeing as you can spec her as a blood mage would it work to ignore willpower completely and just toss that into constitution?

There was already a really long post on this with math and stats and everything. You need to distribute among the three stats for optimal tanking.

Defense tanking works great for normal encounters, but you would get crushed against bosses since the diminishing returns are so brutal. I think the other thread basically concluded that to be an efficient "dodge tank" you'd have to spend a minimum of 2 points in Cunning every level. If you did that, you'd be very vulnerable to magic damage and you'd have a hard time keeping up with the Strength requirement on Sword/Shield upgrades.

I personally went 1/1/1 Str/Cunn/Cons on Aveline for a while, then swapped to full 1:1 Str/Cons. Next playthrough I'm going to ignore Cunning and pump more Strength so I can wear more of the gear that I find. I've had a Sword and Shield for her in my inventory for like 4 levels now, that she still can't wear!

Could I get a link to that other post? Can't seem to find. Apart from tanking, what about the other ideas of going Str/Cun on Fenris? Or would Str/Dex be better for damage. And is there any reason to give Merrill any Will? Not like she can heal anyway, so why not keep her in Blood the entire time.

if you have better gear waiting for your toons and have the black emporium bonus content go there and buy the makers sigh and you reset all stats and abilitys for that char works on anyone who drinks it no just your toon
