I'd also like to know about this secret family member.

I believe they're talking about your cousin.

Edit: Gamlen's Greatest Treasure is the quest name.

You can save one sibling. That girl survived just fine for me.

You can save the little girl?

I hope so ... If i play through again I'm saving everyone I can. I dont mind some sadness in a game but right now its way to much.

Have good approval with Anders and pick the right dialog options.

Ohh, interesting. Thanks. Definitely going to grab that quest on my next play through. I assume you get it from Gamlen then?

Interestingly enough, the saddest moment I've had so far was when I met up with... a certain someone from the last game.

And she didn't mention having an ideal family life with the Hero of Fereldin, and said she was working for someone that surprised me.

My Warden must be out there somewhere... heartbroken.

I hope to resolve this whole thing Sheppard/Liara style in Dragon Age III

There's a note in his house. If you read it, you can talk to him about it. (:

In that case-

Too much familial sacrifice in this game.

I was looking forward to having the family mechanic throughout the game.

Not losing one at the start, another in the first act, then another in the 2nd.

I mean come on. Seriously? Getting old.

THIS!! Though I did feel for their deaths. Especially the mother:crying:

I think you can save your mother by siding with a mage in a secondary quest. I made the mistake of killing him on this character, lol. I thought he was the serial killer, but apparently I got the wrong mage.

No, you can't. That's the worst part, you can do nothing to save them, nothing at all =( Mighty hawke who helps everyone out and rules the world (xD) but cannot save the own family.

In order for Hawke to become who he does, sacrifice is needed. He has to have the strength to make hard decisions because of what he has lost.

Bethany is seen again when she's kidnapped in Act 3, and also when you do Finding Nathaniel Howe quest. If you don't do Howe, you won't see her at the end apparently.

I believe you're also supposed to not do Fool's Gold or it will not make the Nathaniel quest appear.

Once you save Howe and Bethany, she shows up in the finale to help you kick some teeth in.
