Cerberus lost sensitive information to an Eclipse base. Once you've put down all hostile resistence, you have have the option of uploading it to: Alliance Command (Paragon); Cerberus (Neutral); Keeping it (Renegade).
I'm mostly a Paragon player but I kept it. The Alliance and Cerberus will just file it away somewhere and keep it classified. I want to know what it is before I just hand it out to anyone. I also don't like hiding info in general. For the most part, people have the right to know. I sold the Cerberus data to the Shadow Broker and tell the reporter about Saren in ME1 for that same reason.
N7: Lost Operative. What did you do with the data?

It implicates Cerberus in conducting Rachni experiments.Hah Yes Reapers wrote...

I uploaded it to the Normandy. Even for Paragons I suggest they think about doing that. Obviously whatever you do it has no effect on the game and how Cerberus/TIM respond to you, but if you are roleplaying you might consider that your Shepard wants the data as insurance but also doesn't want to undermine his/her working relationship with Cerberus just yet.
Something to think about.

As a Paragon, I also kept it for leverage. I'm hoping that ME3 will allow you to choose to act solo without being tied to any particular faction. That would be cool. At least then, keeping it as leverage would have a purpose.

I sent it to the Alliance with my Paragon Shepard, but my Renegade one kept it for themself. I was so torn with this choice to be honest....amazing how something so simple could turn out to be something potentially world-changing in ME3.
Do you chose to destroy Cerberus' reputation once and for all, or spare them the pain and cast them in the sympathetic light they so obviously crave?
Personally I don't trust them, but the squad members on the Normandy I began to trust after their loyalty missions and discovering that there really are human beings underneath all the Cerberus BS. I would protect them to the ends of the galaxy, but the rest of Cerberus and in particular the smarmy git TIM can burn with the Reapers as I crush his precious reputation.
Bring it on!

Kept it for myself. Not only is decoded quicker, but it can be used against either organization. 'Sides, TIM probably found out if you sent it to the alliance, seeing as the alliance is full of cerberus operativex.

1 Shep kept it for blackmailing Cerberus with later on in 3
1 shep gave it t the Alliance so they can screw over Cerberus with it
and everyone says no to handing over the data to Cerberus so the organization can just use it to cover their assets.

1st shep kept it (doesn’t trust anyone at this point and isn’t about to throw away info that could be useful. Possible leverage and all that jazz)
2nd and 3rd sent it to the alliance (both trust the alliance and hate Cerberus)
4th shep sent it to Cerberus
Personally I would probably keep it

Yeah, my Shep was the ultimate Paragon in ME1. I started ME2 with the intention that he didn't come back quite right, so he occassionally succumbs to Renegade impulses. Keeping the info was one of those moments.

Problem, TIM?

Nearly always keep it, although dependant on the Shep I am playing at the time. My general opinion that any leverage I can gain over potential opponents is a good thing.

LOL.
I've sent it to the Alliance a few times but yes mostly I've kept it. I may need it to force Cerberus to help with the Reapers later because I'm definitely going Maverick after I'm done with my Collector mission. The Alliance is infiltrated by *Cerberus and the Alliance didn't treat my memory well, denying and covering up all my warning about the Reapers after I died.
*yes I am aware that "keeping" the data may be pointless and it may go straight to Cerberus anyway since EDI is programmed by Cerberus. I've actually considered waiting until after the Collector mission to do this since there are some changes to EDI but mission reports don't change and EDI never clearly states that it has "quit" Cerberus.

I usually send it to Cerberus as a goodwill gesture. Whether I like it or not at the moment I need them. Like my dad always said, "There's no good burning bridges before you reach the other side." I'm going to be stuck with Cerberus for a good while, no need to be antagonizing them from the get go.

Ceberus gave Shepard his body back as well as a new ship. The Alliance was thinking about capturing and interrogating him. Soooo.....I always keep it for myself or give it to TIM.

Since there are so many things wrong with that quest I just pretend that the game gives you the option to forward a copy to the Alliance while returning the original to Cerberus.

I definitely gave the data to the alliance. I like Admiral Hackett. He seems like one of the only few good guys left in the universe.

Realistically you should been able to do all three, give it to the alliance to prove you haven't betrayed them, give it to Cerberus to make it seem like you haven't betrayed them, and for yourself in case TIM tries to pull something on you and/or the alliance burries the data in an archive.
