I feel as though the new models really kill the sense of continuation of the story for me. I mean, Sten, a qunari, went from being a gigantic red eyed human, to a horned demon. That kinda ruins the continuation from Origins and completely changes things. Personally, I think they should have left well enough along with the Qunari. Now, if they had been a faceless race who was never visually represented, then they could have pulled the demon man look off. But, seeing as how Sten played a large part in the last game, it throws a wrench in the whole plot element of the Qunari.
Another thing that bothered me was the change to the elves. In Origins, the elves looked good. They were a bit shorter than humans and had their trademark pointed ears, but at least they looked reasonable, even pleasing to the eye. But now, they look like gangly bug-eyed aliens from the X-Files. I mean, jeeze, when I first saw them, I was half expecting them to gang probe my character then demand "Take us to your leader"
I know that the developers were trying to change things up in Dragon Age, but seriously, these new character models were a mistake. They should have left well enough alone with the Qunari and the Elves. When I started playing, I was expecting to see more giants like Sten, not these wolf-man demons. I wouldnt want to learn the Qun from those monsters. Sten's orignal model from DAO was intimitading, yet wise. These new ones are just plain intimidating. As for the elves, just because they live in things called Alienages doesnt mean they have to look like aliens.
I mean, they left the humans and dwarves alone, they should have done the same for the rest of the races. Even the new darkspawn dont look as good as they did in Origins. And what in the heck did they do to Flemeth? From hag to hottie cougar babe? Ummm, continuity breaking much?
My final thoughts, for dragon age 3, serously, take a hint from Origins when it comes to the appearance of the characters and try to keep things on track, okay?
