Been trying to run the game in DX11, and it often ended up in crashing back to desktop every 5-10 mins. So I did some research and a couple of driver changes to my computer, it seemed to have helped. I am not 100% sure this acutally cured my crashing problems, but I am able to run the game for 5 hours now without crashing. Just want to post my findings here and hopefully it can help people out with similar problem like me.
First off, my spec:
Windows 7 Home Premium x64
Asus P8P67 MB
Intel i5-2400K
Nvidia GeForce GTX 570
8 GB DDR3
Things I did:
1) Install the Nvidia 267.26 (NOT the 267.24!) Beta driver. I located this very helpful post by MaxPayne over at steam forum that describe how to do it.
Result: The game run A LOT smoother afterwards. I am able to run on 1920 x 1200 in High Detail for a very long time. but eventually, the game still crashed on me. Bummer!
2) I went to the Nvidia forum and saw this post about a TDR crash that sometimes happen when I am playing DA2. It seems that RealTek Audio driver is one of the reason why this is happening. So I uninstalled the driver that came with my MB's install disc, and let Windows install it's own driver instead.
Result: No more random crashes (or at least for a long while). But in exchange, I now crash 1/3 times whenever I go from 1 area to the next :/
3) I goto Asus' web site and located the latest RealTek audio driver, figures I might be better off playing the game in DX9 without crash, rather than playing in DX11 and crash everytime I change zone.
4) Don't know if this helped or not, while I am at Asus' site, I also download and installed the Intel Inf for my MB. I am quite sure this was installed before when I setup my computer for the first time. But I re-installed it anyway.
Result: What do you know! After installing the latest audio driver & possibily the INF, I am able to keep the game running in DX11 mode without crashing so far. *Crossing my fingers!
EDIT:
If the game still crash, try turn off VSync, lower the details...etc. Most often than not, the crash is a result of bad performance. Until Bioware or Nvidia roll out patches to address the issue, we could only either run in DX9 or DX11 with lowered details.
