I have a couple of staves that say Blood Magic: Each point of health provides 1 additional mana. However whenever I equip said stave my mana doesn't increase at all. Is this a bug? anyone else having this issue?

You're misunderstanding how it works. Blood Magic has a mana to health conversion ratio. While using Blood Magic, each point of mana required by a spell iinstead uses an amount of hp according to the ratio. These staves improve this ratio. It starts at 2 mana for 1 health.

These staves would improve that to 3 mana for 1 health (assuming no additional modifiers).

So that when you activate blood magic and use a 20 mana spell, you lose 7 (actually 6.7 or something, since health is stored as a float above 1) health instead of losing mana.

The real question is.... does it stack?

I don't think it stacks, I did a simple test with Merril. I gave her one item that gives mana according to HP level, and then added another similar item, and they didn't notice it stacking.

So basically buying more then one piece of gear with blood magic ability support goes out the window?

Edit: I hope the pieces stack cause its already hard balancing out the stats for a blood mage since we need magic and willpower just for our gear. Then on top of it we need Con as well.

Oh it definitely stacks according to my experience. :-)

If you get the Vitality passive from Spirit Healer, and all Blood Mage upgrades/gear, you are basically casting with infinite mana. That must be what a Tevinter Magistrate feels like.

Well i'm glad they stack. In the first game it always kinda made me mad that you had so much "Improve Blood Magic" gear but didn't stack. Hell though with 33% reduction in spell cost and Blood Wound you were unstoppable anyhow and nothing like stealing some health from Lelina's summon or taking a chunk of Alistair's Lifeforce.

I agree. Maybe they changed it because we thought it was silly that they didn't stack. Or on the other hand, maybe it doesn't stack and they kept that. At the moment we have two people's different opinions.
