That was just cruel...

I just finished the Deep Roads Expedition and my sister died!  Bethany has been in my party through the whole game and with no warning whatsoever she dies to the blight?!

If you brought Anders along I think she can join the Grey Wardens. Might wanna go back to an earlier save to do that. She won't stay in your party, but I think she will join you at the end. Hope this helps.

That probably wouldn't work so well for me, since I'm playing as a rogue archer - that would mean my party is 2 archers and 2 mages since Varric is mandatory there.

I guess I could go back and leave her behind, but it appears I lose her from the party anyway.  Next playthrough I'll change things up.

It was just an expected shock.  Poor Bethany.

There are only 2 ways to save her from that fate, as above, take Anders along to do the Joining when she gets tainted or leave her home. If you leave her at home, she lives but her fate might arguably be worse than dying.
Either way either her or Carver (whichever you have) will reach this crisis point and leave your group for the rest of the game. (though they do show up in later quests if they live)
