How do you save in this game?

I've been playing for three hours now and the "save" feature is always grayed out.

Even in Gamlen's house, I can't save.

When I exit to the main menu, it says "are you sure? you'll lose your progress etc."

I exit anyway, and then there's an option on the main menu to "resume", but it says cannot load saved game. ARGGHH!!!

Not a happy camper at the moment. LOVED DA:O but wish I had waited on buying DA:2...

And BTW, I have an HDTV yet the graphics leave A LOT to be desired. Why does everything look monochromatic? I miss the stunning graphics in DA:O.

Never mind. I just started a new game, imported a character from DA:O, and it's auto-saving now. Don't know why it wouldn't auto-save before.
