 (SPOILERS)

Once Act 1 is over, Bethany is either dead, with the Grey Wardens, or taken to the Circle.  Which fate did you choose for her?  Is it better to make her a GW? Or have her join the circle, and why do you think so?

Edit: I decided to include Carver in this topic.  After saving Bethany from the Circle, I decided to roll a mage Hawke and explore Carver's character.  The banter is so funny, despite the underlying jealousy, and the sibling rivalry is so strong, I decided to leave him behind so he would go off to join the Templars.  It will be interesting to see how things unfold. . .  What did you guys do with Carver, and why?

I didn't read ahead so she died in my game and I'd gone too far to go back by the time I realized I could've changed it, but looking back I'm satisfied with what I got

sent to the circle because she only live for 30 years as grey warden. But she can always escape from the tower like anders if she want to because in my opinion she stronger than him

Bethany is kinda doomed, it seems. Either the ogre gets her, or...

With the Wardens, chances are she might come across either my Orlesian Warden/Mage Warden later down the line. As well as the fact that she should rejoin the group later. Besides, I wouldn't risk the chance of Beth being forced to become Tranquil.

No.  If Hawke leave her behind, the Circle in Kirkwall eventually catches up with her, and she is sent there.  Either way, she is not in the party after Act 1 until the end of the game.  Well, I haven't gotten far enough in to find out if she joins Hawke  if she is taken to the Circle, but I knwo she does if she becomes a Grey Warden.

Better fate in my opinion is Grey Wardens. I mean 20+ years of protecting her from the Circle and this one time she's caught. Seems a waste to me.

Living as a Grey Warden. I didn't know anything and left her home so poor Bethany is stuck inside the Circle. But if I would've had a choice it would be GW. I think our bias is strong for wardens~ hehe~

Death is probably the best choice for poor Bethany. In terms of avoiding all the bullcrap life in Kirkwall or the Wardens throws your way.

How do you get her alternate fates? Same for Carver. I've only played through once, as a rogue. I elected to leave Bethany behind when we ventured into the Deep Roads, and she joined the Circle. Nothing I could do about it. If I take her with me, she joins the Wardens instead? I'm confused.

Same with Carver. I assume if I leave him behind he... what? Joins the Templar? What if I take him with me?

They become infected by the taint if you bring them along. If you brought Anders, then you get to bring the sibling to where the Wardens are. After a bit, they get convinced to do the ritual on  younger sibling.

Oooooh... neat. Do they leave you forever at that point to join the Wardens, or hang around you as a Warden? Either way, cool option.

Wardens are the best for her.

1: The camraderie. She doesn't have to be a shut-in anymore.

2: The Templars. The Chantry isn't allowed to pursue active Warden mages (though that doesn't stop overzealous templars who think the law doesn't apply to them... which doesn't stop her and her comrades declaring them as obstructing the Warden mission and... dealing with them.).

3: She's not in the Circle, and nowhere near one of those hated and misused magical lobotomy brands.

4: She can magically roast Darkspawn to her heart's content. She finally has the opportunity to truly stretch her magic legs, proverbially speaking.

5: Her corpse isn't left in some Deep Roads tunnel, left to be munched on by a hungry genlock.

Not sure, Bethany might be happy within the Circle for the short term, and if Hawke take up the apostates' / Ander's fight against the overzealous templars ...
At least Mother gets to visit her at the Circle ...

You do get to see Bethany a couple of times if she's a Grey Warden. There was once when the Qun were invading, she has a cameo, but she acts like she hates you even if your friendship is all the way up. The second time is when you are Champion, she is kidnapped by apostate mages and she thanks you for looking out for her, but that's it. She still seems to resent you. And at the very end, when the Rite of Annulment is happening, the GW come back and she's with them. You can choose to have her join you again.

I don't know what happens to her or Carver if they join the Circle/Templars, but I imagine that Carver is along the same lines as Bethany if he becomes a GW.

I chose GW but honestly wasn't happy about it....not that I would have been happy with any of the three outcomes. The thing that actually bugged me though, was that it was one of the few times where the game didn't give you the option of asking what the character in question wanted.

There's a few examples like this where the game seems to always provide the opinion or lay responsibility to another character. For example, "not" choosing Wesley's fate instead of letting Aveline make the decision. There's plenty of other times where the game prompts you to ask what your party thinks, but not in this case.

More proof that the taint infection is not an airborne disease, or a bloodborne disease, but a plotborne disease.

Sheesh.

Apparently the darkspawn corruption, when it doesn't succeed in killing you, still makes you an insufferable B****.

I had begun second game as a mage and had used the mod to keep Bethany alive in the beginning. I do not see that as much of an advantage anymore, So I am beginning another alt mage and plan on just letting the ogre have her.

The few minor bug caused by the effects of what the mod does (not the mod itself which performs its simple task with flawless efficiency), combined with Bethany's seeming disdain for me, make it totally not worth it imo.

Are both of the younger siblings written to be insufferable little pricks?

When my 100% Friendship Bethany went to the Circle, our brief meeting at the end of act 2 still had her being snippy, but she was thankful when I rescued her in act 3, and our conversation before the final battle of act 3 was very touching and 'I'm glad you're looking out for me'.

And then I remembered that Bethany was also snippy on the initial flight from Lothering, but otherwise totally cool all through the early year.

I guess she just doesn't deal well with stress.

Not sure about Carver, but it seems Bethany stop being a **** when you choose either side of the Mage vs Templar (if you send her off to the Wardens).
