the circle is the best option for Bethany, it's just a much better fit for her. I think she becomes bitter after joining the wardens cause nothing happened to Hawke.

Carver responds better to the Wardens than Bethany does, but I don't know his preference between them and the templars

I always play as a mage so I end up with Carver alive, I prefer to let him join the Templars so that he won't die in 30 years time plus I don't want him flirting with my Warden, I also like the drama between him and Hawke with the whole Templar/Mage thing.

I play as a male mage for my canon Hawke, partly because I prefer MHawke's voice and partly because I didn't want Bethany joining the Wardens in case she tried her luck with Alistair (my Wardens LI) but I also didn't want her ending up in the Gallows in case she tried her luck with Cullen, especially since we all know he has a thing for female mages and she's a flirt (hopefully Cullen will be a LI in DA3.) I could never bring myself to kill her off in the deep roads either because I'd feel bad about it.

... Man, it's sad that I actually put so much thought into it LOL.

Bethany - Circle, because there she can study in peace and matures a bit. Also I think she is too soft to become a Warden.

Carver - Warden. As a warden he can become a hero, like he always wanted, and as much as I like the templars, he really just joins them out of envy and anger.

It is interesting btw how Bethany becomes more hostile against Hawke as a warden and Carver as a Templar (and in reverse).
Thats just another reason to do it like I described.

Thats probable the best answer on this thread.  I'm pretty sure Carver gets like +10 friendship for becoming a Warden

Bethany - I haven't gone far enough through a playthrough outside of my MageHawke, but I would say that the Circle is the better fate for her. She seems content with being a Circle Mage and doesn't become hostile to Hawke, unlike when she becomes a Warden.

Carver - Warden. I think seeing his sibling go for an extra trek through the Deep Roads to find some people to save his life (for now) kicked out a bit of the rivalry he has for Hawke. There's that and when he pops up in Act 3, I feel he gets more character development when he reunites with Hawke. I went from wanting to kick him in the face for being a brat, to wanting to hug him for suddenly learning some respect and leaving the Wardens to fight alongside Hawke.

On another note, I prefer Carver's character to Bethany's. He doesn't get rivalry when I go out of my way to bring Anders along and prolong his life longer. Two healers, Carver and Varric make for a VERY long boss fight witch healing spells and Revival tennis.

Bethany - the Circle. She seems so bitter and miserable in the Wardens. In the Circle she seems happier and she'll be free at the end of DA2 anyways. The Wardens is for life.

Carver - the Wardens. He matures and finds his place in the Wardens. Templar Carver is just an ass.

I don't really like Bethany but she's cooler than Carver. The funny thing is your sister is at the Circle but you never visit her. Unless you bring her along for the DLC, you barely see her. A grey wardern means she will die soon...around 30. In the circle she's a prisoner, but maybe she escaped at the conclusion. We will never know unless there's another book. Too much crying over repetitive backgrounds insead of substance. No new DLC is coming.

The fate of the siblings, for me, depends entirely on my Hawke.

Tyr Hawke took Bethany with her into the Deep Roads to keep her safe from Templars, she refused to take Anders because she considered him to be a threat, what with the crazy spirit of Justice and stuff.

Athena Hawke on the other hand, left Bethany at home, for fear of the darkspawn corruption. When she got back from the expedition to find Cullen taking Bethany away to the Circle, she damn near flipped her lid. Threatened Cullen with a blade at his goolies, Bethany calmed her down and walked away.

So it's entirely dependent, for me, what my different Hawkes might do in that situation. Some have had their sibling die in the deep roads, others had them disappear to some Order or another, a few had Anders save them and make them Wardens.

My personal favourite Hawke, left Bethany behind to avoid any exposure to darkspawn and their taint. So i suppose my favourite sibling situation is Bethany in the Circle.

my favorite playthrough, Kit (a rogue), Warden'ed Bethany. But by no means do i prefer that fate for her. I prefer her in the circle.
1) No taint to shorten her lifespan (by decades mind you).
2) She gets to see first hand how others are treated in the Circle and can empathize with mages better (she always seemed to hate/resent her magic and wished to be normal).
3) Free in a few short years to run off with Hawke and become an apostate again, this time with a new appreciation for how precious freedom is and now fight to keep it with a renewed purpose.

Carver on the other hand seems to do no personal growth as a templar. As a warden he finds a new purpose, a calling higher than himself or his petty little rivalry with Hawke. That more than any other is the reason I prefer him in the GW's.

So, Circle Bethany/Grey warden Carver for me.
