So I just started Act 2. Right now as I'm typing I'm in the Viscount's keep, and my question is this:

I have the collector's edition Strategy guide, and though this is my "test the waters" playthrough of Hawke and not my canon one, I'm making him mostly the sarcastic yet well meaning good guy, save of course where aggression and diplomacy and the like are merited more than quick witty banter.

My collector's edition says that Fool's Gold can only be done if Nathaniel either died or wasn't recruited, yet I'm able to partake in this quest after having in my Dwarf Noble (Isn't he the cuddliest dwarf you ever saw? like a teddy bear. oh right...) recruit Nathaniel in Awakening.

Finding Nathaniel is only available if Nathaniel was recruited. which he was as I've said

As such, I want to do both quests, but am at a loss on what this means.

Additional info: I did Golems of Amgarrak and Witch hunt, so maybe the game pulled an "Isolde death in the Codex" on me.

please help. the sooner the better, because I won't move past Act 2 until I get an answer. I don't want to have to save at Act 2 only to find out in Act 3 that I need to do everything over again.
