Now I'm confused... what is that a reaction to?  The Elthina stuff, the Sebastian stuff (oh so creepy) or possible sexy times in the thread?

Yeah, apparently anytime Hawke has sexy!time, Sebastian is right there.

Well, not in the bedroom, obviously.

...

Or is he?

*ninja!Sebastian?*

Um now that makes sense why he doesnt have sex in his Romance. Too busy watching others.

That DOES make perfect sense.  I mean, Hawke is HOT, I always wondered how he could resist.  (Okay, my Hawkettes never flirt with him, but that's irrelevant)

What was your guy's thoughts when Anders (Spoilers)

Blew up the chantry with that magic bomb? Seriously. (Mine is the topic title.)

The little wheels in my brain started to work when Anders steped up and interrupted Orsino and Meredith. I was like: "Uh oh, something really bad is going to happen. Anders, whatever you are up to - don't do it. Okay, how can I stop him? I want to talk him out of it - whatever 'it' is. I want to cast a spell on him, so he can't move..."
Well, and then, all of the sudden, the chantry was history. And my first thought was:
"You killed Elthina, the only decent person in whole Kirkwall."
Followed by: "Goddammit, Anders".
Followed by: "And you made me an accomplice in this!"
Blank.
More blank.

Well, these were my thoughts. Nothing that would help to win the Pulitzer Prize, but that was exactly what went through my Hawke's mind.

And about Elthina: The way I see her she was a good grand cleric. She wasn't (ab)using her power because politics were not her concern. Should they have been her concern? I don't know. The chantry's responsibility to take care of the mages was delegated. It was Meredith's responsibility. And Elthina couldn't know that Meredith was obsessed. I believe she was aware of the seriousness of the situation, though, and that she simply refused to take sides because this could have made the situation even worse. She didn't want to favour someone. In addition, she tried to be there as a guidance for those who needed her and that are not just templars and mages, but other people as well, such as other sisters and brothers of the chantry. I must have missed the part with the refugees. But that's just my opinion.

Does he do it regardless of the path you have with him right? Whether you're romancing him on friendship or rivalry? I'm really curious. It's probably something that will happen regardless. Poor Anders.

Edit:
I totally foresaw this. Anders was really mentally unstable regardless, specially when you go down the rivalry path with him. I'm in Act 2 and I'm just like I love you but calm down!

It seems it doesn't matter what you do, but I've yet to get to that point. I'm playing a snarky rogue who just lost her whole family, Carver and dad are dead, Bethany got taken by the circle, the mom died a zombie, WTF Bioware. Yeah I thought my Warden had a crappy life but at least she got a decent ending with Alistair until she disappeared but my Hawke will be officially screwed when her man goes crazy and pulls a terrorist on her.

Yeah I'm gonna finish my game and see what happens. I demand a "Anders exorcism DLC" Bioware!!!

My thought EXACTLY! The real Anders, the cat-person, sarcastic lovable Anders…a terrorist. Really, Bioware? REALLY?!? Screw Justice...

My exact response was "GODDAMMIT ANDERS! This is exactly the situation I have been working for ten years (in-game time) to AVERT! Do you realize this isn't going to help? That this is going to convince people the templars were right all along?! You - you - you...*%&#ing murderer!"

Stabbity. Rot in hell while being sodomized by a Pride Demon you whiny bastard. His actions actually convinced me, after a whole first playthrough of siding with the mages, to Annul the Gallows alongside the templars. It felt terrible, I spared those I could, but I still did it. Goddammit, Anders.

When Anders first spoke up: "... Anders, what are you----"
When it blew up: "...........*jaw drops to floor*"
A few seconds later, Chanty still mid-blow up: "NONONONONONONONONONONONONO! *FLAILS UNCONTROLLABLY*"
After when Meredith says she's Annulling the place: "Anders... Why... ;_;"

He was my LI first time through, and my magey was madly in love with him, and understood his cause and wanted the mages to be free, but wanted -anything- but a giant war, so when he did that, she was all sadface, especially since he lied to her and used her. And she was so excited about curing his Justice-ness! ICly (yes, I RP though my playthoughs) my Hawke would've sent him away, unable to keep him around but unwilling to kill him, but I just couldn't do it. I didn't know he'd come back (or so I'm told), and I wanted to make sure my Hawke ended up with him in the end, loving him despite everything, but helping try to fix things so there'd be peace.
.... I think about this stuff too much.

I was playing a psycho-mage Hawke, and her reaction was...well, think Joker from Dark Knight. She clapped, and proceeded to burn a path through every templar in her wake, giggling like a lyrium-addled nut. I/she was more outraged by Orsino's little fit of pique than the chantry.

And when it was all over, gave Anders a Gibbs-style smack upside the head for blackmailing her.

My thought process was basically
"Okay need to talk these two down... wait, Anders what are you doing... well that doesn't lo- OH MY GOD! WTF?! DAMMIT ANDERS WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?! ... and... and I helped you. Oh Anders... "

The first time I saw him blow up the chantry, I was pissed. Not at him, but at Meridith. She had an obligation not only to the Maker, but the mages as well. It was her duty to protect not only the people of Kirkwall, but the mages as well, and she failed in both very much. Anders was bringing the hot water to a boiling point to make the mages fight back. How it was going, the mages are being imprisoned; of course they would turn to blood magic. They didn't have any other options. Although most of the mages died, there was really not a better option. He tried to reason with the grand cleric, and Hawke even talked to her, but there was nothing that they could do.

My first playthrough I had romanced Anders (Friendly). When he blew up the chantry I was like HOLY S***! I was so shocked I exited the game and didn't play it through before two days later. In the end I forgave Anders. The more times I play thorugh DAII the more I notice and the more I sympathize with Anders' action... I don't approve, but I do sympathize.

Btw am I the only one missing renegade and paragon options from ME? What I wouldn't give to have the option to slap both Anders and Sebastian!

Merril was just as much a stupid b**** as Anders was. I had to kill every Elf in Sundermount because when coming out of the cave from getting Marethari rid of the demon (which meant killing her of course), I sided with Merril thinking we could come to an agreement since I was prepared to tell them that Marethari CHOSE to have the demon possess her. But they just attacked me and everyone else also did. And all the time I kept thinking "NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I don't want to kill any of you!! Oh lord, I was just helping Merril and doing what Marethari wanted, I DON'T WANT TO DO THIS!" I felt dirty and a true murderer. I wanted to strangle Merril.

My reaction to Anders blowing up the place was also pretty much "GODDAMNIT, ANDERS." but with a few more expletives thrown in for good measure. Also, I literally stopped for minutes to think about my decision whether to support Anders or not. I just couldn't side with him that easily, even having loved him through the entire game and having made everything he wanted me to. Although in retrospect, there were a few times where I was fed up with him. I wanted the Ser-Pounce-a-lot-Anders and not the whiny-Justice-possessed-Anders. I ended up supporting him in that final part of the game, but I don't think our relationship went anywhere after that, no matter what the official epilogue said.

You don't have to kill the entire clan. Just pick the option "I take responsebility" and they will let you walk away.

I contemplated killing him. (And no, I didn't romance him. I considered that until I met Fenris). But I figured that killing him would do more harm than good, because he would just become a maryt. I thought it best he live with what he's done, so I told him to leave.

But then, he came back because I chose to side with the Mages. There was no way I was going to support that crazy psycho woman, and I'm all for liberating Mages (just not blowing up Holy buildings like a terrorist). I was surprised when I saw that Anders had come back for the final fight. I was then saddened when I saw there were only two options when he asked if he could stay and support me. One was "Yes! Stay! Mage liberation FTW!!!" and the other was "NO! GTFO NOW!!!" Why couldn't there have been a; "I suppose I may need you're healing. But the only reason I'm letting you stay is so you can see the chaos and damage you've caused. You've practically signed every Mage in Thedas's death warrent."

Sigh. Goddamit, Anders.

Unfortunately that lack of choice diversity permeates throughout DA2 and is Bioware's fault. It got in the way of roleplaying and in consequence of enjoying the game.

Often times I found myself thinking "But none of these 2 or 3 options represent what I want to say!" (and the wheel didn't help matters in this regard, especially when you consider how different what your character actually said was to the description on the wheel). Whereas in DA:O I wasn't put in that situation much at all.

Recently I told him to leave for the first time ever and was surprised when he showed up again in the Gallows.  Like, he was just standing there, like him and Hawke were buddies again.  So my Hawke was mad and didn't talk to him at all. Then it was time to pick my team and and give orders to the rest, and when I picked Fenris, Aveline, and Isabela, Hawke gave orders to Merrill, Bethany, and Varric but totally ignored Anders, who just stood in the background with the others like a douche xDDDD

I wasn't surprised - I knew what sela petrae and dragonstone would do. But I did sort of go 'Blimey!'

I too wanted DA:A Anders back - DA2 Anders was quite hard work, at times!

I wasn't surprised by the incident itself but rather by the scope of the destruction. That was over-the-top for "necessary" or "justice". It was the act of revenge.

I miss Awakening Anders, too, but I accept Dragon Age: Kirkwall's Anders as well. He's been an abomination for about a year. Most don't make it anywhere near that long.
