For some reason the nv_disp file in 267.24 is showing up as a .cat file. I can open it but all I get are random symbols.  Renaming it to nv_disp.inf can change it but I can't get the symbols to change into anything readable.

The same file in the 267.26 is showing up and opening properly.

I have a 9700 GT and any help would be appreciated.

wrong file.

not nv_disp.cat   but   nv_disp.inf

Installed 267.26 with the help of the modded inf file (thanks).

Unfortunately, it doesn't fix the problem for me. Every hour or two, the gfx will simply freeze while the sound continues, and the only thing I can do is end the program in the task manager. It happened regularly on 267.24 and it still happens regularly on 267.26 :(
Quite annoying.

GTX 570 here.

Sounds like a temprature problem tbh.

Download EVGA presision:
http://www.evga.com/precision/   ( works on all nvidia cards )
And enable on screen monitoring so u can se the temp on your card.
On my asus card (gtx285) the auto fan speed makes my card to hot and i get freeezes. U can adjust the autofan here manually.

I'm trying that now. I've burned a few cards in my time, so I usually keep an eye on temps.

So far, it's between 65 and 75 most of the time, but I suppose it might spike higher. I will keep an eye on the graph and make sure to note how hot it is on next freeze.

Failing this, I suppose I might want to test with a bigger PSU.

This is what worked for me:
1) Configuration-->Video-->Uncheck Full Screen (wait about 5 seconds)-->Recheck Full Screen
2) Configuration-->Video-->Renderer-->Select DirectX 9

Of course, the DirectX 9 is for older video cards, such as GeForce 7000, 8000, 9000, and 200 series (may be others) and I do not know about ATI video cards (sorry).

The initial DA2 System scan (in my case, and in many others I presume) automatically selects DirectX 11 by default. Hence, all the video (and sound) weirdness going on.

Many, many thanks to folks on the Bioware Social Network for coming up with these solutions, but I had to piece together these two simple steps after reading tons of comments.

Hope this helps somebody.

not so sure if this works for the freezing hilsin but when i use this file my character has a black line under its feet that shoots way across the map. I was using a mage and i have a 470 nividia card. The line is more like a shadow that stretces from the mages staff or something.

Be shure to monitor your gpu temp. Those errors may come from heat. Nvidias internal auto fan speed control isn't to good. it very often overheat the card.

I rekomend : http://www.evga.com/precision/
Works on all nvidia's gpu.

Hi Hilsin, I downloaded your .inf file and replaced but when trying to run the setup I get: "Install cannot continue, files are missing". Before replacing the inf file I got a 'Hardware no compatible' error. My current drivers are 266.58 and there is no nv_disp.inf file in its directories... only a nv_disp.cat file which I don't know how to open..

Yeah u must mod the file in c:/Nvidia dir.   Not c:/Windows dir

But..

No need. Use this driver. It's plug and play ::happy:

Well that's the only nv_disp file in the folder.  I can save it as a .inf file but that doesn't actually do anything for what show up when I open it.

And looking at your response to the other guy with the same problem, as far as I know I am in the C:\\NVIDIA pathline unless there's some other way to get to my Display.driver file.
