Okay, here´s the deal...

I´m playing on hard. My Hawke is a 2h Warrior. I´m currently planning on using Aveline as tank, Varric or Isabella as my rogue and Anders as my mage. But I was really wondering how I should spec my Anders.

Is the group heal really worth it to prevent him from using any offensive magic? Or is it better to stick to the Vengeance route and make him an offensive/support mage who uses the upgraded single target heal?? I´d really like some input from people who are using Anders.

Not played nightmare yet - so I can't give you the numbers. I'm not sure if single (upgraded) heals and potions will be enough to carry you through all of the bosses, but if you think you can make it - go for it :)

Personally in that setup I think it's easier to have melee tank/dps synergy in a single character than magic heal/dps. Alot of the sword n shield and some of Avelines unique skill tree helps her dish out extra damage already - so let her split her roles and focus on making Anders a better healer? I've spec'd a bit into the heal and Anders tree, grabbed only the upgraded mindblast and frost talents for extra CCC.

I think if Anders is your only healer, then I would definitely invest in the Panacea line and possible leave Vengeance untouched in favor of other support spells like Glyphs and buffing spells. Definitely invest in Arcane Shield and Elemental Weapons. Horror and Hex of Torment could add to his support role.

The cold spells are good for him if you want him to do some damage every once in a while. I've been playing around with his tactics and came up with this so far. It works decently, though at times I still have to micromanage deactivating Panacea.

Self: At least 2 party members below 50% health - Activate Panacea
Self: At least 2 party members below 50% health - Aid Allies
Ally: Health > 90% - Deactivate Panacea

For sure go with the upgraded single target heal and forget his healing aura, it's just not worth it.  Although I would save Vengeance for later on in the game -- there's no real point in rushing for it when you won't even have that many spells to take advantage of it, and staff attacks aren't really worth it either.  I ended up going deep into Primal and Spirit with him, took greater heal and heroic aura and then worked on Vengeance.

Definitely invest in Arcane Shield and Elemental Weapons. Horror and Hex of Torment could add to his support role.

Don't invest in anything other than Heroic Aura and Rock Armor (if you're going Primal) until much later.  Enemies die too quickly even on Nightmare for it to be worth picking those up early on in favor of filling out the other trees quicker.  About their best use is on a boss, and there's not that many for a while.  The trick to keeping your party alive is to have Aveline put four points into Battlemaster and then her personal tree.  That is of course after you've already picked up the upgraded Shield Bash and made her immune to crits.

Do you have the DLC Blood Dragon armor?  That and the Razer is plenty for Hawke for a long while, and seriously...the game is so easy on Hard that he can solo most areas with that gear alone, so I wouldn't worry about heals too much, especially since most fights don't last that long.  The 80% heal and health potions are all you need.

Self: At least 2 party members below 50% health - Activate Panacea
Self: At least 2 party members below 50% health - Aid Allies
Ally: Health > 90% - Deactivate Panacea

If you're really having that much of an issue keeping your group up, then by all means.  And that tactic setup looks nice.  I didn't even know the Self:At least X party members health tactic was even in, and ended up using three tactic lines to get the same result. =]
