Hi all.

I'm having the problem that my pc crashes completely after roughly 5 seconds after startup.
I've played the game for like 50 hours now without any consequences.
I'm not sure what the cause is, but suddenly my screen shuts down after startup (while hearing the intro-movies' sound) and after that I'm getting the famous "blue screen" for 1 second. After that it crashes. When I start my PC up again, it gives me the message that it had an accidental and unauthorized shutdown (with the choices if I wanna start my pc in safemode, etc...).

I hope anyone has a solution to my problem.
Thanks in advance ;)

"Onboard Sound' is typically epic fail. Sorry to break that to you.

2 GB of Ram on windows seven? like shooting yourself in the head...should have 4...

Specifics on the actual blue screen error would be helpful.. I know its hard to write on a piece of paper what that is but just do it :P

I think I found the problem. The graphicscard was getting very hot. Used RivaTuner to speed up the fan. Now it's less of a problem.

And 2gb is good enough for windows 7 in my xp.

DA runs just fine on 2GB of RAM in Windows 7. So does onboard sound...

same problem, same fix but all of a sudden riva turner fix stopped working.... here are my details...

E8400 Dual core 3.0

4GB Ram

Vista 64 home

ATI 3870 (set drivers back to 9.7 ATI drivers like said to do on forum fix)

no blue screen just turns black and can't do anything unless manually restart, GPU temps steady at 62 however CPU usage seems very high however temps still in normal 40 degrees

Wrong.  "Some" onboard audio chips run OK, and don't cause slowdowns.  On the other hand, "some" audio chips are notorious about causing problems.  The percentage of problematic ones is high enough to tarnish all of them, and separate sound processor cards are not necessarily expensive, although there are situations in which a cheap add-on sound card isn't any improvement over an onboard audio chip.

So far, this thread has been an nVIDIA one.  If, in fact, we have a driver conflict here, let's not mix in Radeons with the Geforces.

There are plenty of HD 3870 threads to join in on.

Got same problem and guess what, I have an ATI 3870 like Hyunnh!! I have tried latest Catalysts, then 9.7 drivers, and even latest 8.x drivers but the game would always hang! Also tried with 1.01 and 1.01b patches and without any patch. For now I have stopped playing until a new patch comes out or new catalyst drivers are released :(

Problem is exactly as reported by Hyunnh, screen turns black and I have to hit the reset switch (Ctrl-alt-delete wont work...)

Operating System:
Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 3

Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 3800 Series 512.0 MB
Sound Card: Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio or Logitech USB Headset
Display: Samsung SyncMaster Magic CX2253BW(Digital)
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c

You'll have to settle for picking from a Google's list, same as anyone else will (or Yahoo, Bing, Lycos, whatever).  The forum's own search is limited to subject titles at present, and only found two such.

THAT link follows:  www.google.com/search

Hmmm?  Usually, the search criteria appear in the visible part.  I used dragon+age+3870.

It worked fine, just for some reason "looks" incomplete --> about 39,700 English pages.
