Wayward Son Quest Glitches

And another thing: If you have encountered the bug, did not notice it at the time, and continued with another 6-8 hour's worth of gameplay, is it then even possible for your quest to get fixed with a patch? Slashinator1 has a fair point, and a good idea, though, just give us that item in delivery box at Gamlen's place.
Bioware, your my favourite gaming lot out there, but I'm hurting here!

That is also a very good point, just have the damn thing sent to our mailboxs.Pangeri wrote...
Has anyone heard anything as to WHEN this patch is expected? I only really have time to play this on the weekends, and having to wait a week or two for this simply ridiculous game-ending bug to be fixed seems hardly worth it.

On a side note, Bioware was by far and wide my favourite developer in the RPG department but now I'm rather cross with them. Their support is well frankly nonexistant, their support is basically a room full of 10 people with 0 knowledge telling you "were sorry we ****ed up, guess you'll have to deal with it" and this forum is a joke its just 2 devs and a **** ton of angry people where nothing really gets fixed. And what the hell happened to the game testers on this game? Countless graphical errors, main plot line quest glitches that make the game unplayable, I mean are you kidding me? This game might as well be a frisbee at this point, and trust me its about as good a frisbee as it is a game.
The first acts story was pretty good (from what I could tell with no knowledge of the Deep Roads section) and I enjoyed it and was really looking forward to the subsequent two acts. Now? Not so much. Instead of being a 16-20 hour investment over the course of 2 weeks (I'm on holiday - spring break), its now a 28-36 hour investment in playtime (assuming it doesn't bug AGAIN) not to mention subsequent weeks I would have to wait to play if I decide not to revert to an old save. Doesn't seem nearly as good when you put it in those terms does it?

Well, here's hoping Bioware releases that patch whilst I'm still alive, preferably sooner.

I'm trying figure out a way via the command console, so far no luck, there are fewer commands than in Origins, + Origins had commands for actual quests, at least the main plot ones. Seeing as the Journal classifies Wayward Son as 'Main Plot', I'm assuming there's a command for altering it.
If anyone else finds anything, ANYTHING, I think everybody here would appreciate it.

open your console pressing the ~ key
enter 'runscript zz_dae_debug'
press plot jump - core/critical path - deep road expedition
select ruined thaig
it surpasses the need for finishing the Wayward Son quest, and I don't know if you miss a cutscene or a section between your leaving Kirkwall and arriving at the thaig.
But at least it's a start and gets you out of the deadlock

to enable the console, create a shortcut to the game's .exe file, something like da2.exe.
right-click on the shortcut and select properties.
in the 'Target', add at the end of the line -enabledeveloperconsole
you do a leave a space between the quotation mark and the dash.
all you have to do then is press ~ ingame, and you have your console.
Note: you cannot see the console, nor what you type in it. you'll have to rely on memory in order to know what you've written!

The quest marker on the global map is bugged but you can still continue the quest as normal if you go to the Docks(Night) -> Warehouse District. The local map quest marker is visible on this map in the bottom-right corner, you can enter the location and the quest functions normally.rb9980 wrote...

I have a problem with this quest too, the quest marker is above Samsons head indicating i must talk to him, but he has nothing to say for me.
I have this exact same problem. He has the icon to progress the quest over his head, but he just tells me something about a Templar not being patient.
Cheers, J.

I FIGURED IT OUT!!! Using the info posted here I found a way to just complete the quest and turn in the Bartrand quest (you get 107G though so purest may not want to do it) if you go into that menu. Plot Jump - core/critical path - deep roads expedition and select set plot marker theres an option that makes bartrends quest complete so all you need to do is turn it in. No missed cut scenes or anything.Pangeri wrote...

The problem of this quest is to talk with more than 1 npc, I found a save before bugging ( but I lost 10h of gameplay to 2h gameplay save ), example: we ask location to the father of the elf boy and then we continue the quest, DO NOT talk with the templar Thrask ( it's him if I am not wrong ) otherwise the quest will bug, I recommned to people do this quest first to not have the same problem as me ... 10h of gameplay wasted because of this bug
Same problem and you are right. If you talk to Samson first time you're ok but talk to Trask after this and it screws the process!

Still, I can't take all the credit for this. I just thought like in Origins, where people used the console all the time. The console in principle is still the same, though some of the commands are not (some might remember the trouble between commands in Origins and in Awakening).
And guys, especially you unruly1, seriously, my cheeks are getting red from all the love!

I have added -enabledeveloperconsole in Propeties -> Target, but when im in game, I tried press ~ (shift `) and entered 'runscript zz_dae_debug', but nothing happens and it used the quick key to enter the inventory page
Also, how to press plot jump ? (do you mean Esc here?)
and thank you in advance!

when you hit the ~ key, don't hold in shift, I just use ~ to show the button between 1 and TAB in the far left corner of your keyboard (it's not ` with all keyboards) and type in your command. After having done typing, you press enter, not ~ again (don't know if you're doing this, but just in case). Another way to know when your in the console is to try to move using the WASD keys. If you cannot move, that means then that the WASD buttons your pressing are actually appearing in the console command bar. In Origins there was a mod to make the console visible, don't know if that's the case with DA2 yet.
Hope this helps!

But I am facing another problem, which is when I skipped the Wayward Son quest, the letter to initiate the Act of Mercy quest would appear in Glem's house, quest accepted and when i go to the wounded coast, thrask would keep repeating the same dialog and im unable to enter the cave for the quest.
Does anyone have the same problem?

1) Plot Jump
2) Core/Critical Path
3) Investigate
4) Circle Plots
5) Wayward Son
6) More Options
7) The Cave on the Wounded Coast
You could play around with the other plot settings for this quest, but this path will take you right to the end so you can at least get the reward/XP for this quest.

If you'd like to finish the quest without skipping over it, follow Pangeri's advice, except after typing "runscript zz_dae_debug", select:
1) Plot Jump
2) Core/Critical Path
3) Investigate
4) Circle Plots
5) Wayward Son
6) More Options
7) The Cave on the Wounded Coast

Thank you so much! This helped me to continue the Wayward Son's quest and i just completed act of mercy and headed to the deep road with no problem at all.
