 Alright, has anyone figured out if it possible to override the base tats with custom tats yet? I have a ton of tats I want to start converting:devil:

Get the chargen file from http://www.dragonage...ile.php?id=2145
Stick it in DA2 override folder
Put your textures in override, too
Modify the "tattoos" section of chargen file to include your tattoos

... and that should be it?

No clue. Guess I'll give it a shot in a bit and see what happens.

Look at this way:  While you are happily playing the game, some of us will be bypassing all of the fun trying to figure out silly things like, adding new tats=)

I have two tests to run...which will have to wait until I can get my kids into bed.  I'll be back and update once I have had a chance to try some things.

The DAO chargenmorphcfg.xml will break DA2; you'll need to use pyGFF to extract the DA2 version (it should be in the same place as in DAO) and edit it with notepad++ (or any editor that supports xml). I don't know if TerraEx's chargenmorphcfg compiler will work or not.

Well, so far a big fat nada on this. I tried adding some stuff via the chargen found on the nexus (the one so far that seems compatible with DA2), and I tried to rename the file to override a base tat...but again, I am not certain of the actual tat names to try and override. Any clues from someone much smarter than I?

Maybe would be easier to start with adding custom tattoos to the list instead? Not sure if there's any benefit in removing options which are already there...

Alright, by "the list", I am assuming you don't mean the chargen but some other file? If so, which file, and how do I get at it?

No, i mean the list of tattoo textures which is part of the chargen file. Near the bottom of it. Each entry goes like:

resource name=mt_tat_h01_0t

so, would try to put your tattoo texture in the override folder and add a line to this section of chargen file for each?

Adding all of the tattoo files (other races, etc) files seems to work. Also, in this process it added the blood smear too, not sure which tattoo file has it.

My edited chargenmorph.xml with all the tattoos available in DA2 can be found here:

I tried that and couldn't seem to get it to work, unless I missed something.  I'll give it another shot in a bit.

And, another thought just occurred to me, am I even using the right file type?

In DAO, it was a simple DDS file. Does that necessarily hold true here?

Ugh...this problem is above my pay grade=P

Alright, this is what I have done in it's entirety, so maybe someone can figure out what I am doing wrong.

I took the chargenmorph from here: http://www.dragonage...ile.php?id=2145

And I added it to the override folder. I took the custom tat file, named it mt_tat_h03_0t and placed it in the override folder as well. Bear in mind, this is in DDS file format.

I then edited the chargen, in the tat section as follows:

<tattoos>
<resource name="art\\characters\\playercharacter\\shared\\heads\\textures\\mt_tat_h01_0t"/>
<resource name="art\\characters\\playercharacter\\shared\\heads\\textures\\mt_tat_h02_0t"/>
<resource name="mt_tat_h03_0t"/>
<resource name="art\\characters\\playercharacter\\shared\\heads\\textures\\mt_tat_pmta_0t"/>
</tattoos>

Now, in the CC, when browsing the tats, the skin darkens when coming to the custom tat choice, but no tat is there to be seen. Now, to be honest, I didn't think the chargen would work, because you can't add custom tats in DAO via the chargen either.

So, what am I missing/doing wrong here? Any thoughts?

It's possible the game requires the tattoo texture to be in certain .dds format and yours happens not to match it, but it's hard to tell. One thing to try could be, take one of tattoo textures the game comes with (they can be extracted using this tool: http://social.biowar...m/project/1936/ ) give it your custom name, put that renamed texture in the override and check if it shows in the CC, or if it also gives that darkened skin effect?

You may want to rightclick the link and do 'save as', but I'll upload a zipped copy for you.

Thankee, thankee.  Now I just need to figure out how to extract stuff from the erf files.

Having the darndest time figuring out the erf programs.  Bleh...all of the basic DAO stuff, I pretty much had down (heck, I wrote a few guides), I just never got into the erf stuff or the programming stuff.  I am almost wondering if trying to work on this is going to be a fruitless endeavor, at least until/if we get word from the devs on just how the override folder in DA2 works, or until some helpful modder is able to figure out how it all works.

My mod-fu is very weak at best:unsure:

I tried this with hair colors, and it did not work, even though it bloody well should have. I tried overriding tint colors, same deal. There is a level of utter mystery in adding new things in that manner at the moment, I'm afraid.
