Single character stuck in slow motion

When in combat my Hawke fights in slow motion. He runs from point to point at normal speed but any attack animation is affected. No other character or enemies have any slowdown at any time. This is not just a visual bug, abilities don’t take effect until the animation is over and basic attack dps plummets.

I have been playing Dragon Age 2 without a problem until this started sometime during the deep roads, I think it started at the optional large spider boss, but I am not sure. The most recent save I have that does not have this issue is right before my indentured servitude.

System specs:

Operating System: Windows 7
CPU: Intel core i7 CPU Q720 @ 1.60 GHz (8 CPUs). ~1.6 GHz
RAM: 4096 MB RAM
Video Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5600/5700 series

http://support.ea.com said they had no solution, so I am not expecting much.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I've filed a bug on it and included the link to the YouTube footage. Very strange - it's almost as if there's a spell effect that's failing to wear off and beginning to stack. At any rate, we'll investigate and see what we can find.

Can everyone experiencing this confirm that they have at one time (or multiple times) resurrected Hawke mid-combat? Also, since I've only seen people post the difficulty if it was on Nightmare I'd like to confirm that this happens on all difficulties.

SO:
1. Did you at any point in the game use combat resurrection on Hawke
2. What difficulty are you playing on
3. What class did it first occur on?(it seems to be affecting every class BUT that may be because its systemic and it may have started with a mage)

Unfortunately we need to figure out the cause before we can find a solution.

Oh, and can someone try this for me? Make a backup of all your saves somewhere other than the default directory. Re-install the game and make sure it deletes all previous settings and saves. Does the problem persist? If so it should be a lot easier to track down.

Thanks for all the responses, everyone! Unfortunately, given the data it looks like none of those things are consistent across all users so back to the drawing board. Given that haste seems to alleviate the issue it seems your characters are somehow being locked in to having -attack speed% from something. On a side note its not PC specific as I'm seeing reports of this on Xbox as well.

My next question is if you were, at any time using the poison that has an attack speed debuff attached with it (sorry I cant remember the name off the top of my head) [thanks to 'msmpsn' for the suggestion]

Also, can anyone confirm that this occured before the Qunari Crisis quest where you fight the Lunatic Elf in the side streets? (where you disable the gas barrels)

No, never used any poisons.

Okay, we can cross that off the list then!

On a side note, this only affects your attack animations, correct? Ie. you can run at regular speed just cant fight or use abilities at a normal rate.

I've made another post before seeing this one, but my other post just stated that I seem to figure it out for my rogue. For me at least, it seems to happen in Act 3 after talking to first enchanter Orisino during the main quest Best Served Cold. From that point on, my rogue is like half attack speed or less. I'm going to replay as a mage and see if it's consistent for all classes although the devs are probably going to figure it out before I get to that point. Hopefully you guys can fix it.

Can you confirm that if you load your save before talking to orsino for Best Served Cold and go to say Hightown Night that your combat speed is normal? And if so talking to him and going directly to the same combat and see if its slower.

Uninstalling the game and removing the save game folder and moving it back after reinstalling does nothing.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I was under the impression that this was affecting all saves once it happened (a systemic bug) but that does not appear to be the case so don't worry about doing the re-install like that.

For those of you willing to spend time trying to figure out this issue with me, please try going backwards through your save library until the issue doesnt exist and see if you can figure out what changed between that save and the next one (and let me know where that was in the game)

I tried timing the attacks again for various saves before and after the Lunatic Elf fight. While I thought I could feel some slowdown before, the first time it is measurable (using my crude method) is the first save after that fight. It does however worsen afterwards (during the remainder of act 2 and act 3).

Thanks for checking for me. So, has anyone ever seen in act 1 or before this fight? Perhaps it's occurring in this combat sequence and then it progressively gets worse based on something like Hawke dying and reviving or even simply loading the save.

In light of these issues (thanks again to everyone who helped with this), we'll be taking a look at all the bonuses added by armor sets and companion reputations today and hopefully pinpoint all the issues related to this.

Ok, maybe I shouldn't comment on this, since I'm not the one fixing it, but I also think a little explanation is deserved.

According to the last information I had, it seems like the Maker's Sigh, follower player bonuses, and item sets bugs are actually all symptoms of the same issue. The game saves out the ability list incorrectly, leading to corruption. Those particular bonuses are abilities, which is why they show up on your ability screen.

We are testing a fix. I haven't been able to reproduce it personally after the fix, and QA is testing more thoroughly.

The fix of making Thumbs Up have a bonus of 0 doesn't actually fix the underlying problem, it just makes it have no consequences.

Bizarrely the Isabella bug didn't used to happen to me but now it does. Haven't a clue what the trigger was.

We're under the impression that a main cause of this is the Friendship buff in conjunction with the Maker's Sigh issue where passives are breaking.

I'd like to point out that I said the main cause and not the only cause for this. You can still have this occur without using Maker's Sigh, it's just not as likely.
