Thank you mr. Thomas.

Now I am regaining my faith in Bioware. Was it so hard to give those small words of reassurance?

I don't know about rest of players with this problems, but now I feel much, much better.

Ok, maybe I shouldn't comment on this, since I'm not the one fixing it, but I also think a little explanation is deserved.

According to the last information I had, it seems like the Maker's Sigh, follower player bonuses, and item sets bugs are actually all symptoms of the same issue. The game saves out the ability list incorrectly, leading to corruption. Those particular bonuses are abilities, which is why they show up on your ability screen.

We are testing a fix. I haven't been able to reproduce it personally after the fix, and QA is testing more thoroughly.

The fix of making Thumbs Up have a bonus of 0 doesn't actually fix the underlying problem, it just makes it have no consequences.

Thanks Peter! Hope you guys roll out the patch soon.

That's great to hear, thanks for commenting. Zeroing out the animation speed modifier at least will make the game playable until the patch is released :)

I must be the dumbest person on earth to try to trigger this bug because it didnt happen to me. I followed the instructions to do so, but it doesnt work. Checked my final save from a playthrough where friendly Isabela has been about 90% of the time in my party. And I entered Hawkes house A LOT. I dont have the Sebastian DLC.

Does anyone cursed with this bug NOT have the Sebastian DLC INSTALLED?

And Peter continues to be my fav. dev from Bioware

Thanks for the heads-up on this, Peter. I don't suppose you have an information to share about when we could expect the fix to go live?

Yes.  Me.

If it helps, I only noticed it after the High Dragon and Zevran missions in Act 3.  You really notice the difference in Hard mode.

That's great news. And please patch the game in a way that starting a new game is not necessary in regard of profiting from the bugfixes :). If that is in any way possible.

I started off anew way too often now because of all the bugs.

for those of yall who arent heavily affected why not try looking@ your characters animation speed looking with the save file editor. its not only speed thats affected but many many factors such as resistances etc. anders has no resistances but he had a ton of magic,. makes no sense.

Did you look at magic resistance or at the elemental resistances? I do not really know what exact difference magic and the various elemental resistances have. But there is a difference.

Look at his magiv resistance in-game. Where it says magic resistance in the editor, thats the resistance he has on top of the resistance he gets from his magic attribute. So unless you have som magic resistance+ gear on him, its supposed to say 0 in the editor.

The bugfix/workaround on DAnexus makes Isabelas Friendship bonus a bonus to Dodge for her AND Hawke. Sure that this doesn't mess up Hawkes chance to dodge eventually? I thought any buff from friendship/rivalry or sets that buffs Hawke directly has the potential to corrupt his stats?

What is different about the chance to dodge now?

Thank you, Mr. Thomas! It's very reassuring to hear from you guys. I assume as soon as a fix arrives, we just remove the 'set to 0' file? (I noticed it's different today - now, it gives you +10 or the rival bonus. I think I liked it better when it was neutral.)

I was amazed saying "Wow! Isabella friendship skill is applied even if she´s not there, great!
Then i noticed Hawke´s attack speed is decreasing quite a lot and notice that this skill is bugged -_- Damn you Isabella! lol... Got nothing against Vael as i didn´t earn his friendship.

Waiting for a fix, Hawke´s attack speed is like -400% already for me...

Same problem here, my rogue is so slow now other characters attack 4 or 5 times for each attack he makes. It's made the game unplayable. I'm at about 52 hours of playtime in act 2 and so far I have loaded save games as much as 3 hours back and my character is just as slow as he is on my current saves. :( How can something like this make it into a release its the definition of a game breaking bug.

JayJay, I think the difference is that if that actually is affecting Hawke at all it isn't an ability applied in the same manner as the regular buff, I can't actually find a variable in the save game editor that would indicate a 10% dodge increase or decrease on my Hawke with or without the mod.

Also that is a buff on the companion permanently rather than an ability being applied and removed from Hawke.

Now I can't be 100% sure but I get the feeling where it states the 10% Dodge for Hawke it doesn't actually apply anything. Would have to ask the mod's author to clarify but I get the feeling we'll have an official fix for this soon anyway.

Hmm...I have just got this bug. I started noticing it once I got Isabela's friendship bonus. She didn't seem the type of girl who liked it slow. :P

Anyway, my mage is now half the speed of other mages in the party, not only to attack but to pull off spells. Kinda frustrating to throw a fireball at a mob, only to have it miss because they moved out of the AoE 10 seconds ago.

Don't know if this matters, but I was noticing Isabela's friendship buff in my Hawke's abilities screen even when she wasn't in the party (this was pre-Deep Roads). It's not there now (Act II), but I did swap her into the party a couple of times since then to upgrade her gear and noticed I've become even slower.

Edit:

Hawke has never died/been resurrected
Has used only Avernus' Experimental Draught (besides the standard health/lyrium potion)
Has been under the influence of Speed. Anders is her dealer. Now I feel like I need it just to play the game. :x
I have the Sebastian DLC, but no friendship/rivalry buffs from him as yet.
Isabela was the first companion buff I got, indeed in all of Act I. Compared to my first playthrough, where I never got her approval and she left the game, my warrior Hawke never slowed down.
Mage Hawke IS wearing an armour set (Spiral Eye).

Edit 2: Thanks ParasiteX for figuring out how to fix via the savegames! :D

I did so and he explained it similar to your idea of the whole thing:

As far as I can tell, it's just the tooltip being a liar. The
abi_base.gda has two separate entries for the Thumbs Up ability, one
that applies to Isabela and one that applies to Hawke. The engine knows
the difference and applies each ability to the appropriate character.
The dynamic tooltips, on the other hand, are a little buggy and only
seem to read one line at once. In your case it appears to be reading
Isabela's. Mine keeps looking up Hawke's and telling me both characters
are getting a 0% attack speed increase. Either way it's lying, a look at
the savegame stats show that Isabela's getting a 10 bonus and Hawke's
untouched, as intended.

This fix is really fine, I suppose. And revertible in case of an official fix.

It's strange how I didn't even notice the gradual slowdowns until the game was almost unplayable. Suddenly I realize why a lot of battles have been so very hard recently. I think I'm very near the end of Act II now, and I just know that the battle I've been saving for a while is going to keep being impossible until the issue is fixed...

Might have been mentioned already, but using Maker's Sigh while wearing a full item set (e.g. Spiral Eye mage outfit, which granted +1 magic) will bug and make you lose the stat.

Can be avoided by undressing (and losing the complete set bonus) before use. I think this is similar to bugged removal of Isabela/Sebastien modifiers, in that Maker's Sigh strips it without triggering the adjustment.

Cheers!
