Might have been mentioned already, but using Maker's Sigh while wearing a full item set (e.g. Spiral Eye mage outfit, which granted +1 magic) will bug and make you lose the stat.

Can be avoided by undressing (and losing the complete set bonus) before use. I think this is similar to bugged removal of Isabela/Sebastien modifiers, in that Maker's Sigh strips it without triggering the adjustment.

Cheers!

I used Maker's Sigh for Isabela (and didn't save when the stats were resetted) and not for my Hawke. Yet he experienced the Set Bonus bug.

When they release the fix, will it be retroactive? Ie: Will it reset the base values and recalculate them? Or will it just ensure that it doesn't happen further? This is a nasty bug because the values are within the save file right?

Edit: Bioware if you read this, I just want to add: Love your work, and I know you guys are generally very responsive, but major bugs like this make me reconsider pre-purchasing games, like I did with DA2. It just seems its better to wait for a month for PC games because v1.0 always seems to have something critically wrong with it. Not just with Bioware, but with many games. I just don't see how this bug could have been missed during testing.

I'm in Act 3 and just now noticing this bug. I made friends with Isabela first and got the permanent buff icon. Later on I made friends with Sebastian and got his permanent buff icon. However, now his buff icon has been overwritten by the Champion set buff icon. I'm still noticing everything I do is in slow motion, along with having -38% damage resistance with neither of them in party.

I really hope this gets fixed soon, because its unplayable with my character being a rogue. Guess I'll make a warrior meanwhile.

I did so and he explained it similar to your idea of the whole thing:

As far as I can tell, it's just the tooltip being a liar. The
abi_base.gda has two separate entries for the Thumbs Up ability, one
that applies to Isabela and one that applies to Hawke. The engine knows
the difference and applies each ability to the appropriate character.
The dynamic tooltips, on the other hand, are a little buggy and only
seem to read one line at once. In your case it appears to be reading
Isabela's. Mine keeps looking up Hawke's and telling me both characters
are getting a 0% attack speed increase. Either way it's lying, a look at
the savegame stats show that Isabela's getting a 10 bonus and Hawke's
untouched, as intended.

This fix is really fine, I suppose. And revertible in case of an official fix.

Aah, good to know, I thought everything was ok but it's good to be certain.

I would really like to know when are we going to have some kind of resolution about this problem. As one of the dev's stated it seems there is a major issue with save game corruption regading stats bonuses from items and i find it quite disrespecfull we are kinda kept in the dark when are we going to get our games in working order. The fact that for the last week the whole community has been doing the QA for Bioware and that we are actually testing a BETA product we payed full price for is really diminishing my desire as a consumer to continue supporting their products.
The game has been out for 12 days now and at the moment of writing it's broken.
It would have been nice to have access a beta patch at least so we can still enjoy our product. I do realise that there are numerous of bugs in the game including broken quests, performance issues etc, but at this moment this is actually a REAL gamebreaker. I can skip a quest - i can stop using a respec potion - i can lower the game graphics so i can play it in a normal FPS - i CANNOT be asked to use a third party software to disable one of the game's features until the devs decide to release a patch that should have been released PRIOR to the product's release.
With all due respect to all the developers actively supporting us in these forums - Would you please tell us WHEN exactly are we going to play the game as intended?
An answer in the lines of - this week - next week - in a year - would do....

I own the majority of your products - and i belive they are the best products the market has to offer , but please show us some love :S....

What bothers me so much is the fact that this is present in all 3 versions of the game, it really is hard to believe this made it through any kind of serious bug testing without anyone raising any flags.

Quality control reeeeeally isn't what it used to be I tell ya!

I'm glad I'm not the only one having this problem. It is too much for men now it takes over 20 seconds to throw one single fireball. Can't stand it. Hope they fix i soon.

I got the same slow speed problem at the beginning of Act 3 on my PC. I use the daosavegame from the http://social.biowar...ect/1936/#files and open my last save on hawke house without armor or items.

My rogue character save have an animation speed modifier of (-90) on the editor so change that to zero and save. My roque speed problem solved and now can play again without frustration of slow motion
My rogue was killed and revive many times and also used the last armor rogue set and also have the Isabela buff playing on hardcore. I got too the stamina armor set bonus bug (-20) from the last armor too so mostly my problems are from the item set bonus and maybe when revive character.

First noticed this problem halfway through Act 2. Had Isabela's buff icon early in Act 2 and completed Sebastian's Act 2 quest right of the bat. I guess I'll just wait until they fix it. Playing too much anyway, time for a long (but hopefully not too long) break.

Where is animation_speed_modifier located in the save editor?

It's ID is 42, when you open the file in the save editor, go to Party - Garret (or PC's Name, might just be first three letters), then go to row with ID 42 and change the Modifier column to the correct value.

If you have the Sebastian bug as well, the ID for that one is 32.

Can someone provide a link or more advice on this editor? I downloaded the file, but it's a package with several executables. The file I'm running is editor.exe. The taskbar description is GFF v4.0 Editor. Is this correct? the closest match I can find when I open the save file is savegame_playerchar, but no ID 42.

Dude, they don't give a ****.  They've already got our money.  No wonder they were pushing so hard to get everyone to pre-order.

I disagree sorry. They, like any other developer, know how tenuous their hold is on new PC games. It's so easy to get a pirated game, and if a game breaking problem like this is not sorted out very quickly, it will lead people either to wait for a month or two after release, or just download a cracked copy, both situations which are bad for the developer.
Like any business, they need a product that works, and is fixed quickly when its broken, or their consumers will go elsewhere or not buy from them in the future. It reminds of Bethesda. They got a bad rep for releasing buggy games, and in later games smart people hung off on buying until patches had come out, meaning they were selling a lot of copies 6 months later at a lower-than-release price.

The damn thing is selling like hotcakes, they'll learn nothing from this. In fact, since they've demonstrated they can release a rushed, bug-filled product with massive art and map asset reuse and people will *still* lap it up, they'll do it again.

Forget about getting another title as good as Origins - DA2 proves that - once again - anything which Electronic Arts is allowed to touch turns into hand-made ****.

Haha true. I was going through all these recycled areas thinking it was so cheap.
Maybe they need to be reminded of the Great Atari Crash of 83. Certainly I won't be pre-purchasing again, and will wait for a while to see what the reviewers say and to get the bugs ironed out.

Inside of gff4editor folder is the file daosavegame.exe  that is the easy to use editor.  The file editor.exe is for more advanced users.  The savegame should be on documents/bioware/dragon age 2/characters/

Editing the Animation_Speed_Modifier seems to have worked for me (was set to -37.0). At least I'm able to finish the game now, thanks!

Could anyone from Bioware confirm that this is being worked on?

Really want to play through the game a second time, but not before this is fixed.

Also is there a timeline for DLC and will there be a expansion like Awakening?
