About reuse, Origins did it too. But there it wasn't a problem for some reason, don't know why really.

The thing that bothers me the most is that the whole area shows up on the map, even though its not accessible.

DA:O only did it for minor sidequests. DA2 as of 1/3 into Act III has had two environments not used by other quests: The Deep Roads, and Sundermount ruins. They reuse the environments for main quests as well.

It's ID is 42, when you open the file in the save editor, go to Party - Garret (or PC's Name, might just be first three letters), then go to row with ID 42 and change the Modifier column to the correct value.

Thank you, I found it. I was opening the wrong file and getting a crazy list of branching trees that made no sense. Mine is reading 0.0 base and 0.0 modifier but I know I'm bugged because I've got the Thumbs Up perk on my character abilities screen even without Isabela in the party.

Does this mean I'm ok as long as I don't add Isabela to the group? If it means anything, I don't have the Sebastian DLC.

I only noticed yesturday that my character was suffering a -10 speed penalty and a -50 damage resistance penalty (no wonder i struggled so much in the duel at the end of Act 2).

Thanks to this thread i have been able to use the editor and mod to resolve this until we get patched and what a difference it makes. My thanks to the mod community.

I am experiencing the same bug. I have downloaded the editor and four the values for attack speed and damage resistance. They ar both reading 0.0 as far as I can tell. Does anyone know what they should be? Oh I am a mage if that helps.

Thanks foir your time.

I found a more permanat fix to the problem.
Using the Dragon Age Save game editor (daosavegame.exe)
Look for the Fire Damage Reistance value. It has an ID of 42. Seems Bioware changed the id values for stats and 42 is now Attack speed.
Youll notice that under modifier it has a negative value. Simply change that to 0 and save. And presto, Hawke has normal attack speed again.
Aint i just awesome. took me all 10 min to find and figure out how to fix..

Many, Many Thanks. It work for me!

This fixed my problem also. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to go about changing this value:

1. Open gff4editor.

2. Click on daosavegame.exe

3. Click on File, and then Open File.

4. Open: Documents ---> Bioware----> Dragon Age 2----->Characters------> [your character's name]----> Saves---->[whatever save you want to open - probably "Quicksave_1."

5. Open "Savegame.das

6. Click the "+" mark next to "Party."

7. Click on your character's name

8. Under the left most column labeled "Id," scroll down until you see the number 42.

9. Next to the 42 is the title "Animation_Speed_Modifier," and next to that, under the "modifier" column you should see a negative value (mine was about -42). Click on that and change it to 0.

10. Click on File, and the Save. That's it!

I've just done a few tests with the save editor and the Haste spell and checked various save games throughout my play through. My latest save has the Thumbs Up icon in my abilities page but having checked my attack speed in the editor it still has a base speed of 0.0 and a mod of 0.0 unless I apply haste.

From what i've read if the bug has actually affected you the numbers visibly go down by 0.5 increments.

So does this mean that I am simply lucky enough to have the bug but NOT have it affect my game yet?

Also since I dont have an icon for Sebs passive in my abilities I assume there is no way for me to have been affected by it at all (damage res reads as 0.0)

Thanks again for all your time.

This should have been fixed a long time ago, but necessity is a good teacher apparently and I got out of my comfort zone and finally managed to get that damned savegame editor working so I could finish the game.

Turned out my speed was at -107. LOL no wonder my Hawke just froze when combat started.

Seriously though. where's the bugfix?

Curiously, I don't seem to be getting this although I have Thumb's Up and Isabella is in and out of the party a lot, including via going to Hawke's mansion. Savegame editor says my speed bonus is 5.0 or 0 whatever.

same here!
Its a real disappointment to have such a bug from BW!!!
I stopped playing, till a patch is released, but it spoils all the fun and enjoyment i had!!!
In my opinion BW should inform us daily on the patch progress for the specific bug.Its unaxeptable for me to have to follow a certain direction (not to friendship Isabela for example) in order to complete properly the game, without any problems!

I guess this is not one of the "major issues", this 17 pages thread is not even included in the list that one of the MODS made for Major game issues :)...

First, could you check that you're at the latest version. If you are, could you upload to sendspace or something the save before and after you try to edit it and message me the links? There's only a handful of people that I know of who still have this problem. Thanks.

... is it possible to avoid the bug completely by:

1 - Not becoming a 'friend' with both Isabela and Sebastian
2 - Making sure both Isabela and Sebastian are in your party when you save?

The circled value, which isn't necessarily what you see in my image, is what you have to change back to 0:

Yes, this is what it looked like for me too. Use the same editor that I did which you can download here: http://social.biowar...ect/1936/#files
