Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I've filed a bug on it and included the link to the YouTube footage. Very strange - it's almost as if there's a spell effect that's failing to wear off and beginning to stack. At any rate, we'll investigate and see what we can find.
Thank you very much for looking into this.

Guess the game goes on the shelf until a fix is in. I am so disappointed in Bioware. This is inexcusable.

I've posted a video at the link below that may help BioWare see what we are experiencing better than we can describe. It clearly shows the slow motion casting of Hawke while all companions are moving at regular speeds.
*warning video contains minor spoilers (combat only, no dialog)*
woah that is awful, mine didnt slow down nearly that much and i managed to continue playing with haste spam. that woulda probaly made me rip my own heart out

On another note, it'd be hilarious and infuriating if Bioware intended this to happen to simulate Hawke getting "older".

Heh, maybe that's the case. My save counter is up around 1,000 now, though I don't have all that many non-quicksaves.DusksCrown wrote...
Having this same problem but it hasn't gotten as bad as Khaelir's video. It's just slow enough to be annoying. Was wondering about the stacking effect that it has over time and the only thing I can think of that really stacks for my game file would be the fact that I make new saves a LOT. So, I'm curious if maybe having huge amounts of saves could be causing the slow-motion even though I know too little about this sort of thing to make a proper connection between the two.

Haste spell negates the slowdown. Tugging along two mages almost makes it bearable for 40 out of 60 second normal combat speed just for the sake of playing the story :/

i didn't experience anything like this on my warrior playthrough. also, my save counter on that game was only at 600 odd something when i finished it.

In the first three my :wizard:Hawke took five seconds to go through one combo of staff zapping, whereas the most recent save took ten seconds. So a whopping doubling of time, and when you consider how long some of the spell animations are, like Firestorm... eesh.
The recent save has one thing differating it from the previous one: I had killed the High Dragon. So maybe this has something to do with abilities used by the HD or something to do with the mechanics of the battle.

My guess is that it is a bug with some skill overlapping or triggering incorrectly. Is there something in the console that we could use to fix it?
Also, can we rule out reinstalling as a solution then? Didn't work for me. If so, at least that means it isn't something wrong with the base code, merely the program thinks its "playing by the rules." This gives me hope that somewhere behind the scenes there's some skill be used or value being exagerated that could be fixed without waiting for a patch.

First, unequip your gear and cancel all buffs. Now cast haste.
Make a save and grab that file : http://social.biowar...ect/1936/#files
Than open it and go to SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHARAKTER / SAVEGAME_PLAYERCHARAKTER_CHAR / SAVEGAME_EFFECT_LIST. Now pick the second effect and increase the duration to the highest number possible.
This will now let you have infinte hast, which seems to counter this weird slowdown.
Hope that helps.

Will this make your character attack like normal or will you and your teammates attack extremely fast for the rest of the game? Thanks for looking into it by the way.

SO:
2. What difficulty are you playing on
3. What class did it first occur on?(it seems to be affecting every class BUT that may be because its systemic and it may have started with a mage)
Unfortunately we need to figure out the cause before we can find a solution.
Oh, and can someone try this for me? Make a backup of all your saves somewhere other than the default directory. Re-install the game and make sure it deletes all previous settings and saves. Does the problem persist? If so it should be a lot easier to track down.

1. Probably, though I'm not sure.1. Did you at any point in the game use combat resurrection on Hawke
2. What difficulty are you playing on
3. What class did it first occur on?(it seems to be affecting every class BUT that may be because its systemic and it may have started with a mage)
2. I was definitely playing on normal when it happened, I didn't change the difficulty at all until I got the bug.
3. The only class I have played Hawke as since the demo is a Warrior.

-Yes, absolutely.
2. What difficulty are you playing on
-Hard, though I turned it down to casual once for a certain end-of-act2 fight
3. What class did it first occur on?(it seems to be affecting every class BUT that may be because its systemic and it may have started with a mage)
-I only have a rogue character
I will try your re-install solution and report back. It will take me an hour to download it again from Steam.

2. Hard
3. Mage, already played through on a warrior once with no problems at all.
Also someone mentioned that the save spam might cause it. I did not save spam on my warrior because I just wanted to get through it asap and did not care what decision I make and how they'll affect relationships and such, but on the mage I have. Warrior save count did not break 600 at the end of the game while mage one is over 1300 now and I still have a number of quests to do. Hope some of this helps, really need a fix for this as it's really annoying
