Single character stuck in slow motion

I've read up on what steps to take to avoid the bug, but I am now at the end of Act 2 and the quest To Catch a Thief--I completed it, then went to try and switch my party around (after Isabela left) and found that I still had the friendship bonus. Meaning, if I have to save and reload at all during the long haul up to the Arishok (or if I have to reload because he kills me during the duel), I'm going to start losing attack speed.
Does anyone know how to get around the glitch at the end of act 2?

And it's going to be heavy. Hopefully with the next patch

been out for twenty days. The top three bugs posted on this forum are
"DX11 Issues replies 1303 views 47596" "Unable to launch replies
1099 views15638" and "Slow Motion replies 523 Views 16922".
These are all very important issues that are most likely being addressed.
Seeing how this game breaking issue is of great importance, I'm guessing they must be scrambling to
fix this problem as we speak. Mind you, it has been twenty days from launch and
about 17 days since the discovery of this bug, I can see your frustration (for
I have experienced it myself).
Due to the nature of this bug, my best guess is that a couple things might be happening on their end
right now.
A) They are having trouble identifying the specific source of this odd bug.
C) They have to figure out how to properly fix save games already afflicted with the bug without creating a whole new set of bugs.
You can go into your save game config and mess with the character but the
average gamer CANNOT be expected to know how to hack their games. As a matter
of fact, people who modify their games are more likely to run into new bugs
that can't be compensated for in the end product (making troubleshooting harder
in general) . Playing a game should be a complete experience with minor
technical difficulty like riding an attraction at Disney World.
Actually fixing a bug is much more difficult process than hacking together a
fix. I do understand this. We as gamers are a spoiled sort. We do expect
our games to be as flawless and seamless as attractions at a theme park. I
myself am stuck in the middle of act three with this slow down bug. I also had
the Isabella can't be clicked in the mansion bug for a while till I went back
to an earlier save and didn't sleep with Merill.
This bug feels like being stuck at the crest of Splash Mountain in Disney
World. It was a great ride and I was having tons of fun and right before the
climax, the floom stopped, all the lights turned on, and a voice on the loud
speaker started bellowing "sorry for the inconvenience. Your ride
will resume shortly”. Now it’s two hours later and I’m stuck at the top of the
ride still and I’m about to shoot myself if I hear that damn rabbit say “Oh
please oh please don’t throw me into that Briar patch!” one more time.
::sigh:: I digress
Though my metaphor may have seemed oddly specific my point still stands,
everybody (including the developers) must be feeling frustrated right now by
this problem. BioWare must be dealing with an awful lot of flak right now
because of these problems and we as your fans understand that.
Thank you

The game just wasn't...finished. It needed more time in the shop. Awakening did as well, and for both Awakening and DA2, they were released rapidly after the previous installments, even for a game without as much depth. Given more time, maybe, they would've had the time to fix this bug before it went out with release.

The first posts on the problem were from before the patch. The problem has also been occurring on consoles, so the texture pack wouldn't be the cause either.NovmbR wrote...
Yes, it's fully right. I found my old character and he is allright. No any buff problems.

while i merrit your frustration since i cant finish the game till this is fixed i think the reason it is taking so long is that their having trouble with locating, replicating, and fixing the bug. that or they are probably waiting for other issues to be fixed as well. until then we are just gonna have to be patient ive been spending the time getting an optimal playthrough for the previous games as well as one for DA IItrj0731 wrote...
It is ridiculous that this is not fixed yet. And it's been 11 days since Bioware has said anything about what they are doing to fix it.
I wonder if it's too late to dispute the charge on my credit card.

None of that prevents them from giving a simple update.
I already used the work arounds and beat the game some time ago. I'm just frustrated that I spent $60 on a game that I had to hack to make playable. At this rate the game will be in the bargain bin before its playable.

I found a more permanat fix to the problem.
Using the Dragon Age Save game editor (daosavegame.exe)
Look for the Fire Damage Reistance value. It has an ID of 42. Seems Bioware changed the id values for stats and 42 is now Attack speed.
Youll notice that under modifier it has a negative value. Simply change that to 0 and save. And presto, Hawke has normal attack speed again.
Aint i just awesome. took me all 10 min to find and figure out how to fix..
I've just encountered this problem. Unfortunately, I'm too computer illiterate to be able to find thed "daosavegame.exe" program. Can you give me a more complete string? I've gone through my basic game files with the exe programs, but cannot find that one.
Also, am I correct that I have to correct this problem in the Dragon Age Origins game files rather than the Dragon Age 2 game files?
I'd really appreciate more info on this. Thanks!
Edit: I did some googling and realized that this is a separate trainer. I downloaded it from the Project 1936 site, and unzipped it. But I still can't get it to work. When I click on the "daosavegame.exe" it comes up with a black screen that says "no data". Was there an installation step I missed? I'm terrible with this stuff.

You need to download and unzip that, then run daosavegame.exe. Go to the menu and click Open File. The save file will be in C:\\Users\\[your username]\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age 2\\Characters, You'll need to find whatever slot your last save is in. Open it, and go down to Party and click the plus sign next to it. Select whatever you named your Hawke. There will be two possible problem areas (for the friendship bugs; I don't want to think about how many problems there could be from armor sets). Damage_Resistance (ID 32) and Animation_Speed_Modifier (ID 42). If those are negative, reset them to zero. There are also some workarounds available here: www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php , but they're not really ideal.
