You want to talk fun....I have Isabella's thumbs up giving me a +5 speed(checked with save editor) and 1) Isabella never got past warm, didn't talk to her much romancing Merrill, and 2) She left with the book and hasn't come back and I am in mid Act 3. Only thing I did, was go fight the High Dragon and finished up the quest and a few small run arounds and then went home and noticed after equipping the Champion's Chest armor.

So how do I get her bonus with her not even in Kirkwall still??

I'll never be friendly to my party members again, if it leads to such bugs :( my hero's one attack animation takes enough time for a firestorm spell to start and end.
where's the patch, damn it?

in my opinion, they should just change the friendship bonuses, so that they affect only isabella and sebastian, like all the other bonuses........ would be easier

"The effects of various follower talents and item properties are now
being properly removed and re-applied when loading and saving"

won't know more until after the weekend.

The only thing slower than my rogue was the Desire Demon in Merrills quest with the full entropy hex tree on him.

Just wanted to chime in and say it's happening to me too. I just noticed my rogue gradually getting slower and slower. I'm at the end of act II and he is just the most useless creature. Guess I'll wait until this patch to see if it fixes because I've no idea how to win fights with him right now

I have gotten near the end of act 3. About the only thing I can do with my hawke warrior is run him into combat. Once he swings his paricipation in the battle is basically over. I have gone to running the other characters in battle. Thanks for the forum this is driving me nuts.

Just noticed the bug last night on my rogue. I think it was the fight with the high dragon after I used Anders to resurrect the party (perhaps more than once, I forget). Need a fix please.

I found a more permanat fix to the problem.
Using the Dragon Age Save game editor (daosavegame.exe)
Look for the Fire Damage Reistance value. It has an ID of 42. Seems Bioware changed the id values for stats and 42 is now Attack speed.
Youll notice that under modifier it has a negative value. Simply change that to 0 and save. And presto, Hawke has normal attack speed again.
Aint i just awesome. took me all 10 min to find and figure out how to fix..

I've just encountered this problem.  Unfortunately, I'm too computer illiterate to be able to find thed "daosavegame.exe" program.  Can you give me a more complete string?  I've gone through my basic game files with the exe programs, but cannot find that one.

Also, am I correct that I have to correct this problem in the Dragon Age Origins game files rather than the Dragon Age 2 game files?

I'd really appreciate more info on this.  Thanks!

The save game editor is here: social.bioware.com/project/1936/#files
You need to download and unzip that, then run daosavegame.exe.  Go to the menu and click Open File.  The save file will be in C:Users[your username]DocumentsBioWareDragon Age 2Characters,  You'll need to find whatever slot your last save is in.  Open it, and go down to Party and click the plus sign next to it.  Select whatever you named your Hawke.  There will be two possible problem areas (for the friendship bugs; I don't want to think about how many problems there could be from armor sets).  Damage_Resistance (ID 32) and Animation_Speed_Modifier (ID 42).  If those are negative, reset them to zero.  There are also some workarounds available here: www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php , but they're not really ideal.

When I download that I get a "gff4editor-0.5.5b.7z" that I can't do anything with.  There is no option to unzip it.

Worked like a charm for me; my warrior was set at -75.  Wish I had have noticed it before I fought those Revenaunts and Rage Demons - just thought I had been hit with some sort of slow spell.  Too far past to redo but thought others would want to know this fix works.

I tried testing to see if dieing and being brought back by Anders would reset whatever flag is doing this, but it actually made me even slower.

I just posted this in another topic, it should fix it for you:

Edit: Important - Always back up your save before trying this. On rare occasion some people have reported save editing corrupting their saves (generally if they tried to do so using an old version of pyGFF).

Preparing your save:

Take off all your equipment. Go to a companion home not the player home and then remove all companions from your party. You should find that both Sebastian and Isabella's bonuses do not show under Hawke's abilities.

After confirming the above, save, and then proceed to fix the save using the instructions below.

Fixing your save:

- Download pyGFF (the one that says gff4editor-versionnumber.7z) and extract using 7-zip or similar.
- Run daosavegame.exe.
- Go to the menu and click Open File.
- The save file will be in either:
C:\\Users\\[your username]\\Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age 2\\Characters\\[character first name]\\Saves\\ or
C:\\Documents and Settings\\[your username]\\My Documents\\BioWare\\Dragon Age 2\\Characters\\[character first name]\\Saves\\
You'll need to find whatever slot your last save is in (the easiest way is to sort the folders by Date Modified).
- Open the save, go down to Party and click the plus sign next to it.
- Select the name of your Hawke from the list.
- There are two possible values (for the friendship bugs) to be reset Damage_Resistance (ID 32) and Animation_Speed_Modifier (ID 42).
- If those are negative, reset them to zero.
- File -> Save.
- Quit the application, fire up DA2, load save and enjoy!

Hope this helps.

Are you using the latest version? Older versions caused corrupted saves.
Alternatively, you could try using the editor.exe way of doing this as described here (second part of the post).

Hopefully you backed up the save first :)

If you follow BTCentral's instructions above you can fix your current game without starting a new one, but the patch should stop it from occurring in the future.

Sebastian (and Damage Resistance) seems to be fixed, but Isabella's speed bug remains. it's "gentler" this time though - not cumulative. after adding and removing Isabella my speed modifier is set to -5 and becomes 0 again only with Isabella in party (-4/1 with my armor on)

Take off all your equipment. Go to a companion home not the player home and then remove all companions from your party. You should find that both Sebastian and Isabella's bonuses do not show under Hawke's abilities.

Assuming all the above is correct, save your game. Using the technique I posted above, reset both values to 0, save the file, re-apply all your equipment and enjoy.

The issue is definitely fixed, it sounds like you tried to fix it previously when the issue was actually occurring which is why you got the -5 upon removal and 0 when actively in your party.

The reason I say not to do it at the player home is because that is the one place you can go and still have the bonuses active and if you save and edit the values at that point bonuses will be active and end up being incorrect if you previously had them in the party - when you go to leave the house and the party picker fires, the bonuses are correctly removed (so if you had already reset it to 0 at that point, it would result in -5) and everything will be as it should.
