Yeah. after a bit of testing ive found that Isabella's buff is very very bugged on Hawke. Seems main problem is fact that the talent buff doesnt get removed properly when she is not in party. And it doesnt reapply properly when she is in back in. All you can really do is simply manually edit and double check it everytime you put her in party or switch out. bit annoying. but goes pretty fast if you quick save, alt tab and edit save quickly.

Wow... this is annoying. I did a Quick-Save, went into the daosavegame.exe and noticed that it was -30.0 so edited it so that the animation speed was reset to 0.0 again. Then to test it out I went into a building where I knew I would encounter enemies. The game made an auto-save once i entered the building. I then check the auto-save and it's already at -20.0. All I did was to leave my house in Hightown after which I ran to a nearby house full of enemy blood mages.

I do hope BioWare fixes this bug soon, as it is really annoying and I do not wish to go out of the game all the time just to fix the damn combat animation speed every 10 minutes.

Ok, so from what you gathered it's either not having Isabela in the party, or not try to get friendly with her. This is a really stupid bug.
I think I spare me the pain to always alter my save game, although this seems to be the better method, and keep the perma Haste for now.

Wow, never suspected that Isabela thumbs up was affecting the speed. Its what cause the main problem or as somebody said had to be quest "Night Terrors" or its because Hawke die, or multiple sources to the same BIG bad effect?

i'm guessing there's multiple sources, also, the Hawke inside his home and one that we actually use outside seems to have seperate stat sheet.

So this bug just happened to me. It's really annoying because spells like firestorm and tempest take a while to cast to begin with. Add this bug to the mix and it just leaves Hawke extremely vulnerable to enemy attacks. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one and a lot of people are having the same problem, so hopefully Bioware will release a patch soon!

I have the same problem, it's like he's in slow motion...
I pretty much stopped playing as Hawke in combat and switch to some other party member to control.
It's painful to watch him take 10 sec to cast a single fireball.

If I never owned DAO but currently own DA2 how can I get the toolset? This bug is currently making the game unplayable for me.

Thanks for the temporary solution, ParasiteX. And thanks everyone for noticing the problem was with the friendship buff. However, I must say, that's not the ONLY cause of the error. See, my speed has been dropping... but I don't have Isabella's friendship bonus! I looked through my save files to see where the debuff started, and it was around the time I started reviving Hawke in battle. In fact, running the gauntlet (I thought it was Merrill's quest... talk about a difficulty spike ;-) ), my speed dropped from -10 to -20 between "Abandoned Thaig" (which is the terrain type, so that was the default save name) and "PassedGauntletSomeho." I wouldn't have died in any of the other rooms, but I am pretty sure I died one or two times in the final Gauntlet room. I specced me and Anders similarly, you see, and we needed both to cast enough healing and revival spells.

I can also see why nobody noticed this in debugging. A -5 penalty isn't very noticeable, and testers might chalk up a desynch in attack rates (for instance, if you have two mages start attacking a target at a distance, they mirror each other in animations; they desynch if their attack speeds are different, which is how I was sure something was wrong) to some other hidden stats or weapon bonuses that are unlisted. These testers would have played the game many times and would be pretty good, so they wouldn't die much in their normal playthroughs. And they wouldn't save after testing Hawke's deaths.

BioWare staff is going to want to check if item set bonuses also have similar bugs, when you remove the items!

You wouldn't be able to edit the savegame with the DAO Toolset anyway. They're talking about this GFF Editor: social.bioware.com/project/1936/

I don't know when it started happening for me.. I suspect sometime towards the end of Act 2. Oh, and I have a rogue melee DPS character.

I'm playing through on my Warrior, and I noticed that my Hawke is attacking slower than usual. In fact, I think I first noticed this during my one-on-one battle with the Arishok. I knew I can deal more damage than him, but he was slower than before. Took a long time(and a lot of Restoration Potions) to kill him, but it's good to see I'm not the only one with this "bug",

I was trying to figure out time-line wise what would have caused this bug...and that damned ally buff with Isabella is around where it started. The more you toss her in your party after having that buff the more she will slow you down. All my testing vs. her attack rate was actually making me progressively MORE slow. Great.

Guess I'm telling her to screw off the next play-through I do. Shoulda let the damned Arashok take her. Hopefully the save editor will work in the meantime and I'll just never bring her into the party if I can avoid it. Good research on this, I knew it had to be some sort of buff as I had tried re-speccing, fighting naked, anything to get it off and it was Hawke only. Companion buff fits in with this perfectly.

Hmm, good point, considering my story involves developing a friendship with Isabella. And I chose single combat battle with the Arishok. Guess Bioware has to fix that bug, among a few others I can name.

Can confirm that the Last Descent set bonus is causing a similar problem like with Isabella's friendship buff.
The stat with ID 10 tagged as defence in editor is actually Stamina. And that it gets stuck at -20 matches the set bonus which adds +1 dexterity and +20 stamina.
Must be a problem with how the script scrubs the stats when ability is not supposed to be active anymore.
But like stated by others theres defiantly something else thats also causing a reduction in attack speed.

Don't bet it on. I would wager that the set bonuses across the other classes are what are causing the - stat bonuses as well. It seems too coincidental to me that two of the three innate buffs I have had are bugged. Can ANYONE in this forum experiencing the combat slowdown problem say they do NOT have ally buff with Isabella, even if she's not currently in your group set-up? If everyone with that problem has it, I think you have your culprit right there.

Confirmed that Sabetian damage reduction friendship buff has the same bug. I think it's pretty clear now that anything that add a temporary talent to your Abilities screen will break your character stats once you remove said bonus? Luke needs to see this so we can get this bug fixed by next patch.(hopefully)

I wonder what my Spiral Eye set hast done to me... I only use it when I really need it, and use +Equipment Quality armor otherwise.

Same prob here, game is on the verg of unplayable.

Seems to happen mainly with Hawke (mage) and Avaline (as tank)

Started at some point in act two, and it gets worse with time.

Someone  had mentioned it so i checked, 
i seem to still have Isabella's "THUMBS UP"  pasive speed buff up...even when she is not in the group, but the buff is still present....it dosen't seem i can even change it for another frendly's buff.

i'm willing to bet that this attack speed buff is glitching and causing a attack speed debuff

it's just a little odd that i can't get rid of it and and it happens to be "buffing" the the vary thing thats a problem.

thanks for working on it and stay away from isabella...she has buggs, lol

And don't wear armor sets?  This seriously need to be fixed, we have save editor on PC so we aren't TOO bad off, but console players are kinda screwed until Bioware patch it.
