Heh, so what does that mean? Avoid Sets & Friendships with Isabela & Sebastian?

And don't wear armor sets? Image IPB This seriously need to be fixed, we have save editor on PC so we aren't TOO bad off, but console players are kinda screwed until Bioware patch it.

thanks for working on it and stay away from isabella...she has buggs, lol

And STDs...Image IPB

What if I do the opposite?  Instead of a Friendship, do a Rivalry.  From what I hear, the problem only happens when you have a strong friendship, would this problem be non-existant if you did a rivalry path instead?

Oh yeah, and on a side note, I attempted to change from friendship to rivalry using pc cheats, saved game just before I did it, but it seems to be stuck, so I guess those "Questioning Beliefs" quests solidifies the relationship.

Technically that would work, since it's only the attack speed effect you get from Isabela's 'Thumbs Up' perk that screws it up. Along with various other Speed buffs stacking up together which also slow you down. The effects you get from her Rivalry perk have a different effect. One that doesn't have anything to do with the attack speed.

But still... this bug seems to come from a lot of different speed buffs. So being a Rival with Isabela would only solve one of the problems.

Well the problem is the same like the get 100% armour glitch be reequipping shields over and over. Almost everything that is supposed to be infinte but can be removed stays on your character. So after you aquire something permanent and are supposed to have it removed, like say a companion buff, it still stays there and starts to stack.

Just adding my "me too!" bit. Hawke is going through her combat moves in slow motion.

Near as I can tell, it seems to have started with the duel with the Arishok (and hoo boy did it make that fight a pain). So... Locked-in friendly Isabela does her thing in Act II, and this somehow causes bad stacking of her bonus?

And this is on WinXP SP3, with difficulty jumping from hard to casual and back in a single playthrough. Oh yeah. And playing via Steam.

Edit to add: Consensus seems to be that something's up with Isabela and Sebastian's friendship perks. Either or both would cause it then, as I'm doing this first playthrough without Sebastian's DLC even installed.

I am having a similar issue but the savegame editor fix is not working for me.

Everything was running fine, I was about 10 hours into the game. I booted it up tonight to play a bit and the first thing i noticed was the bioware dragon intro stuttering and skipping (both audio and video). I loaded into my latest save and I am getting tremendous slowdown with my main character and all my party characters as well as any NPCs that are moving around whatever area I am in. The area effects (such as water and fire) seem to play at normal speed. Encounters with NPCs are slow (NPCs behave slowly) and cut scene dialog is in slow motion but the audio lines up (the characters will move and gesture slowly but speak their audio in real time).

I opened up my save files and I see no 'negative value' in any of the modifier columns. Furthermore the slow down at the boot of the game makes me think this is not my problem.

I updated my nvidia drivers and the problem is still persisting, and like I said I was running the game with zero problems on high settings for the last few days with over 10 hours of game play. I tried to drop all settings down and I the problem is the same. I booted a few other games to make sure it wasn't my system and they are all running just fine.

any ideas?

The problems you're describing is not in any way related to the bug this thread is about. Sounds more like your computer is not feeling well. You may wanna try reinstalling the game. Or updating a few drivers like graphics drivers and such. Or both :P

I have been playing around with Sebastian's damage resistance buff and I can occasionally see a leak occur when I transition from the Hawke mansion to high town while choosing a party. I haven't been able to pinpoint what causes it but if you guys want to test it, go to the hawke mansion and check your damage resistance. If Sebastian has the friendship buff, you should get +5% when he's in the party. I also noticed that when you enter the mansion from high town, your friendship bonuses from your party members still remain on you, almost as if your party was still with you even though you're alone in the house. If you go back out, depending on how you choose a party (with or without Sebastian), you can get leaks where your damage resist drops by 5%, or the bonus does not add correctly when Sebastian is added. Like I said I'm not sure exactly how to reproduce it but try going in and out of the mansion into high town with different party members (or alone) and let's see if we can figure out what's going on.

Same prob here, game is on the verg of unplayable.

Seems to happen mainly with Hawke (mage) and Avaline (as tank)

If Avaline has Immovable active and is getting hit a lot her slowdown is not a bug

In light of these issues (thanks again to everyone who helped with this), we'll be taking a look at all the bonuses added by armor sets and companion reputations today and hopefully pinpoint all the issues related to this.

Well the video that was linked earlier in the tread is what I am experiancing, expept not just one character I am getting it with all of them and all NPCS. The fact that, it worked fine for a good perioid of time, and the fact that all other games run fine at high end settings still, make me think its an issue with the game and not my computer. Like I stated in my first post, iv tried updating drivers and reverting drivers. I guess I can try re-installing, beyond that I am at a loss.

Thanks.  It's gotta be something with friendships/sets, cause I started a new game as a mage and attack speed is normal.  The playthrough I have into Act 3, my earliest save is just before starting the Deep Roads Expedition, and I don't wanna go back that far.

Aye I'm getting this as well, a temporary fix is the gff4 save editor and correcting the modifier on the attribute "animation_speed_modifier" to the correct value (0.0 standard or 5.0 with Isabela's bonus), have to account for any bonus speed items you are wearing too bringing my default speed on my Hawke (two handed warrior) to 10.0 without Isabela and 15.0 with. You can use the editor to simply check the value to see if it is off without altering anything as long as you don't hit save.

Unfortunately something seems to trigger it again as I found it set back at -20.0 after I had already corrected it once when it was at -30.0. Removing Isabela from the group and adding her at this point only changed it in the proper manner but her 5% speed bonus is clearly bugged as I often seem to have it without her even in the party.

At this point I just have to keep my eye out to see if my speed seems slow and correct it if it starts to go down, very frustrating.

Can confirm that slow animation glitch is made from Isabella and Sebastians speed buff - if you remove them from party then add then remove again having friendship with them you will get -5% or -10% if both to speed of animation.

Meh bioware seriously

for me it's caused by something different.
dying with the main character. every time I die I get -5% speed modifier.
I don't get why you'd say -10% chrumpek, since sebastian doesn't (or shouldn't) influence speed.
I checked damage resistance though... which turned out to be -20% in act 3 for me. no idea how it turned out so low.
having them in party or not does not change anything for me permanently. sebastian must've screwed my damage resistance somehow, although it does not change when I die now.
speed gets -5 with every death + revive. later on though, it seems to be only -1 ... for example, the first time I checked it, speed was at -59.0, after death + revive it was -60.0
but at 0.0 + death + revive I got -5.0

hope that helps somewhat. must've been triggered by their friendships. maybe bioware wanted to teach us something about friendship? ;)

All the more reason for me to go rivalry instead of friendship on my mage playthrough.

Actually, now that you mention it, it could definitely have something to do with death and these bugs. I have noticed that my Hawke does NOT suffer injury when she dies in combat. She just stands up perfectly fine, which was certainly not the case earlier in the game and seems to coincide fairly well with when I noticed the problem getting worse and worse. Possibly a bug at work that's interacting between the two.

It may simply be that somehow the effect is stacking every time I stand up from a death with Isabella's buff on. That would explain both bugs and why the experience isn't as profound for some people...the less often you get KO'd and still win the fight the less adverse affect it will have on you. Also explains why simply moving her in and out of the party repeatedly doesn't trigger the issues, it may be that further interaction with the KO. Hopefully Bioware is still reading......

Addition my mage didn't die a single time during my gameplay. When it died couple times i loaded an earlier game. Still think it's the friendship buff from Isabella and Sebastian which is definitely bugged.

As I said, I didn't really notice the speed difference until my one-on-one fight with the Arishok at the end of Act 2. In my head, I believed I should've done more damage than I did since my warrior was a two-hander(and not waste so many potions as well).

And as for Chrumpek, I'm playing a mage story too, and even though I'm gonna do rivalry paths for sebastian & Isabela, I'm gonna keep my eyes open for attack speed drop.

Hmm in my case I don't think Hawke dying is causing it as he hasn't actually been killed yet, companions have though but only 3 or 4 times in total and I have a habit of reloading saves if I completely munt up fights.

I pulled the save game data up finally...my animation speed modifier was set at -60. This seems to be the only 'leak' I was suffering from unless my dexterity bonus is supposed to have more than a base 3.0 modifier on it as a rogue...

ID # 53 is also listed as a -25 and I've no clue what in the world that is.
