lol, I can't believe they actually rendered her nipples. I don't know why Bioware didn't just keep it in, must be an American thing, Heavy Rain has full on nudity, but it was made by the French so it's not too surprising.

Yes, if you like to hear about dwarf fellatio every 2 minutes and enjoy the compnay of one-dimensional women that exist only to proposition you for sex, play the Witcher now.

The Witcher?

Yeah, look it up.  Up until Dragon Age, The Witcher has been the best CRPG this century, but now it takes second place with Dragon Age being first.  If you are a console player, it is probably why you have not heard about this game.

Witcher was supposed to be out for XBOX/PS3 this fall but not? Haven't heard anything about it. In before the lock/delete.

I still think the Witcher is the best Role Playing game out there that treats adults like adults. DA still seems a little too `Western` and afraid to deal with simple things like nudity which was always a staple diet of RPG fantasy since the 1970s!

Since I'm 88.6% sure this thread will probably get locked, I'll go OT.

The Witcher must be one of things that people either hate or love.  I bought it on the insistance of a friend who thought it was the best RPG ever, and after reading favorable reviews.  It was one of the most disapointing RPGs I've ever played, and I've played many over the decades.

But I'll agree with you about DA:O ;)

Hey those are nice nipples! I think I would have rather liked it if Bioware had gone ahead with their orignal plans..

The console version got canned.  They had to cut some projects due to not having enough money, console version was one of them.  The only project they are working on now is The Witcher 2 for the PC.  Maybe the console version for the The Witcher might get released after the release of The Witcher 2 for the PC.

While the romance wasn't the best, the story and moral ambiguity of The Witcher is what really shines. Geralt's promiscuity was present in the books, and it is present in the game.

I've made a Geralt of Rivia character in DA. Human Rogue, making poison planning going herbalism at some point, duellist (dual weapons)... having some fun trying to react like he would. Not enough girls around to shag unfortunately to make it like real Geralt.

I wish Bioware would release an optional nude patch, as was done with The Witcher. That underwear is just hilarious. At least make some lingerie.

Other then the witchers completely meaningless sex, except for the three meaningful ones, I thought it was a great RPG, and one that has from my perspective, heavily influenced dragon age for the better.

Its most notable concepts are actually very simple ones. Beats me why nobody has explored them. No alignment system, and no "good" choices, all choices have their pros and cons, combined with meaningful dialogue choices. One thing I loved was how geralts voice was narrated so the player had a much greater connection with him.

It was rather short though, and even playing on hard, the awesome nuances of the herbalism system, as awesome as they are, were very meaningless.

Not blaming America, I just know that sex is a big deal over there, whereas it's not in Europe.

Have you actually played it? I know many who didn't want to play it because of some heasay about prostitutes and dirty language. They missed out a lot in my opinion. The story was absolutely great, and having played it and watching DA progress later, I am quite certain Bioware liked it too (they actually advertised the Witcher until EA bought them up). If you ignore the few dwarven comments and simply don't go to the prostituts (you don't have to, you know), you'll actually see a living, breathing, realistic world with an attention and love for detail you rarely find in any other game. I personally haven't seen any RPG with that love for detail.
The storyline and depth might not be where DA is now, but it certainly outshone many other games. As for the women in the game, I think they weren't unrealistic, some of them even very strong characters. You can't complain about the sorceress in The Witcher being a male pervert fantasy and at the same time praise Morrigan in DA... they're quite similar. In the Witcher you can sleep with prostitutes, great, in DA you can have a foursome at the brothel. In the Witcher you'll hear about dwarf fellatio, in DA you'll hear remarks about ****** of the ancestors and farting a lullaby. I don't really see the difference here, just maybe that CD Project actually had the balls to show nipples, instead of glueing a few thin strains of hair over them. :)

I actually thought the romantic sex scenes in The Witcher were nice. I prefer those to DA's ones, jus' saying.

Those are nice breasts. Why they didn't just do the full on nudity in the romantic scenes is puzzling to me.

The Witcher's romantic sex scenes with Shani and Triss were much more appealing to me than DA's.

Hopefully we can keep this from becoming a thread about the Witcher, but yes, I have played it, and to an extent what you say is true, and it is unfortunate that a good story was so marred by stupid dialouge and terrible characters. And while you don't have to go to prostitutes, when every woman in the game appears to be just a step above, having no other utility but to have sex with you at the drop of a hat, the point becomes a bit moot.

The storyline and depth might not be where DA is now, but it certainly outshone many other games. As for the women in the game, I think they weren't unrealistic, some of them even very strong characters. The difference is that these characters do have depth and the sexual an immature elements are kept to a level that is reasonable and enjoyable. In the Witcher, you are so overwhelmed by them it is hard to appreciate the game for its merits, and it did have a good story and one of the best systems I've seen to date for having your choices effect the world around you.

True. Now that you mention Shani... had anyone who played the City Elf origin quite a backflash when meeting Shianni? That was more than a coincidence in my opinion...

I second this. The Witcher is a must play.

Anyway...all of the games I've played that depict sexual encounters are very tame (excluding Fallout 3 and Oblivion mods). Mass Effect, Fable, The Witcher. I remember the media being up in arms about there being sex in Mass Effect, but the actual in-game sexual interactions would be rated PG if they were in a movie. This game is the more of the same. Sure...my character went to a brothel. I chose a liason. The screen went black. I heard a moan. Then the next screen shows my character in his undies and the liason is gone. Pretty tame.
