Nathaniel Howe survived in my Awakening import and yet no grey warden appeared in the Deep Roads to save Bethany from the taint. Oh well, might as well just restart with Anders on my group

Mama warned you! I knew damn well something horrible would happen if I took her along after that scene, so I was sure to leave her at home.

But it's much better than the alternative.

I was tempted to replay with Anders in the group, but I'm gonna go with the tragic consequence since it was the real choice I made.

On one hand, she's alive and will fight alongside me again.
On the other hand, Mother thinks of her as lost either way, and Bethany's letter seemed like she was pretty mad (i.e. "surviving.... this is what you wanted isn't it?")
IDK, if Bioware was looking for a way to anger us/make us sad, they sure picked a good target as I would say a good amount of the population of players grew rather attached to Bethany early on, either as a character or just a mage.

I seem to be doing that quite a lot in this game. I'm almost at the end now and it's been one big tragic clusterfrak.
It seems like everyone is either dead or betraying me, despite my best intentions. I actually cried the other night when something horrible happened--yet again-- to my poor character (that I won't mention b/c of spoilers). But I'm sticking with all of these choices to maintain the integrity of the story.
It's just a shame that it's all gone so wrong. Poor, poor Hawke.

Nathaniel doesn't rescue your sibling in the Deep Roads. :| You get to see him later.
