Better Graphics
Better Combat
Better Movement (DA:O was a clunk feast)
Much better voice acting
Menu system is much smoother and better organized
Story is much more personal and therefore involving

DA:O was a rehash of what went before.  DA2 is more evolutionary.  Quicker, sharper, more of a punch.

However, I can see where folks stuck in "old school" and believe that Baulder's Gate is the pennicle of RPG holiness would be dissappointed.  Just like the folks who prefer Zelda: A Link to the Past over Windwaker.

I concur. DA 2 is much much better.

I'm also playing wind waker right now! I never got the chance to beat it back in the day and it's awesome. Also yes, better than a link to the past IMHO.

Everyone has their own opinions. Don't state is as if it were all facts.
I think the game is good myself, but I don't think it is nearly as good as Origins so far (about 20 hours in)

I've only played the demo so far, but the combat seemed much more fun than in Origins, and that alone makes it a better game for me.

Graphics aren't really an improvment
Where's my freeroam camera in gameplay?
Wtf is better movement? The teleport ability with the rogue?
Well I think DA:O had better voice acting
Sure I'll give you this
Story huh? How about them fetch quests?

why do YOU think it's not as good as DA:O? I simply prefer the fast action fighting (with the option of pause and play!) in DA 2 to DA:Os slowness. I like the characters in both games as well.

Baldur's gate 2 is probably the best rpg ever made. The universe,  the world,  the breadth of the experience, the depth of the companions still put modern games to shame . Just the scope of it was incredible. You could easily spend weeks on a playthrough, it had varied environments and enemies, but you can't say playing a fighter in BG2 was interesting in combat.

Too bad it in no way compares to modern graphics or combat in action games. That being said, DAO was not on the same level as BG, and they didn't drop much from DAO to DA2.

If they can't match the size and scope of BG2 with modern budgets, then they shouldn't be trying really. I prefer DA2 to DAO because it's its own game. It isn't as deep or large or complex as BG2, but that style of game is more or less impossible to make these days, so you might as well make the combat interesting and entertaining.

Oh there werent fetch quest in DAO.Hate to break it to you but bioware has never been a master at sidequest. And before you say anything DAO have one super annoying fetch quest.....the sacred ashes....

Cant help but agree. Combat is a lot more fun whilst still retaining the tactical elements. Whilst story and voice acting are personal preferences, I do believe a voiced Hawke makes the conversations a lot more flowing instead of it seeming to be an answering box.

lol why does it matter if it is better than Origins or not? Origins is a good game, DA2 is more than likely a good game, why can't you just enjoy them both?

This is total flame bait. :>

1. graphics were tweaked a bit, and to me they look a bit better.

2. don't care about it, but I play it on 360 so no loss for me. soo... why do you need a free roam camera?

3. better movement, to me, would be the fact that warriors and rogues can make a mad dash right up to enemies.. so yes, better movement IMO.

4. Again, all opinion..

5. so.. DA:O didnt have fetch quests? What RPG doesnt? Story.. I've yet to see if it compares.. but so far DA:O was cooler in that you could be any race with your own story..

Personaly i find playing the demo was more fun since combat is more fast paced on the harder settings u really gotta be on ur guard which i luv its never a dull moment.

Sure graphics arnt good so what?

u got a balance, graphics or gameplay u cant have both...super good..

All i want to sate here for those who complain about the fetch quest, lest face it Bioware has never been good at sidequest and all its latest games have included fetch quest.I cant remember a sidequest in Mass effect 1 that was fun. Also that game was full of go here talk to this person then go back to x person.DAO had fetch quest as well and one of its main missions was a super long fetch quest.Maybe this might not be the way to tell a story but i am also tired of the "open world" structure bioware used to have.

I think it is safe to say that the community is not yet done building concensus.

Both Hawke and femHawke have awesome sauce voices IMHO.

I'm gonna have to go out and agree with you.
I liked the combat SIGNIFICANTLY more than DA:O (i know opinions)

the characters are all on par with DA:O's but the thing i liked about it in this is their evolution over time and their relationships with each other. its really well done.

the story is MUCH better than DA:O's. i wont go into details but theres alot more complex issues in DA2, the story is more complex and dynamic than anything in DA:O.

DA:O has the blight, generic super evil for no real reason looming badguys and you have to save the day. really wasn't anything special, personally i think DA:O's story would have been alot better if there wasn't a blight at all and it focused entirely on lohgains power grab instead because that was far more interesting than a silly evil for no reason army of darkspawn.
