Tried to edit this into my post earlier but it didn't seem to come out.

The only possible change left (or more like experiment with) that I can see with Morrigan, is to try giving her a purple eyeshadow ... but that's a personal taste thing.

In any case, she's hawt.

I <3 hawt

Will be looking forward to MorriganAlt ingame :D

The "New" Morrigan looks too innocent and her look does not fit with her personality. :)

But it's an alternative to those who want a younger, cuter, more barbie-doll version of Morrigan. :)

Morrigan was initially designed to be the cute 16-24 type if you look at her concept art. BioWare just had to remodel her after Claudia Black since she provided the personality defining voice, which doesn't look too good in comparison with Bastila or Handmaiden from KOTOR series.

Ultimately, I perceive this as the polish Morrigan received that BioWare didn't get to give.

Okay, here is the test alternate version with the yellow, squintier eyes with the darkest purple lips instead of the rouge lips: http://i99.photobuck...MorriganAlt.jpg

If that is the alternate version people of the more traditional version want, let me know and I'll upload it in a bit after dinner.

I like this facial outlook much better.  Are you going to upload that version also?

Yes.  I'm actually altering the colors of my original and doing a version 2.0.  Then I'm going to upload that one there as Version 2.0a (Alternate Eye Version).

Should be up in a bit.  Just working on screenshots for everything.

While I personally prefer the original Morrigan, yours has softer, sweeter features. Almost melancholy. Great work!

The Morrigan in the artwork seems to have an upturned nose which doesn't seem to come up in either yours or the final Morrigan. Or maybe it's just the angle...

Incidentally, I think the original Morrigan matches her voice perfectly. With yours, I'd imagine someone less b****y and more capable of TLC. LOL!

See, you know, when Morrigan talks to others, she can come off ****y. But when I've talked to her 1 on1, she seems earnest and dare I say it...sweet at times? "I appreciate what you are trying to do" among other quotes I recall.

I think some of you should give the face a shot on the subjsequent replay and see if it changes your opinion at all.

Okay, fixed topic to reflect version 2.0 and added the screenshots and updated info to the first post.

I'll get around to uploading smaller versions of the screenshots to BioWare's project site later.

Now to go back to work on Leliana!

Can somebody explain to me why people are calling the box art "concept art"?

First of all, before we even get into that error -- The idea that "concept art" represents the "true intentions" of the game makers is exactly backward. Concept art is meant to be a placeholder until you finally mold the character into what you actually want in the final build. The final version = the "true intentions," not the concept art.

But what you guys are talking about is not even "concept art". You're referring to box art, or "front end" art, which has nothing to do with concept art.

This confusion is very telling. Because part of the purpose of "front end" art is to make any gritty realism in the game seem "soft and cuddly" to the great, ignorant unwashed who need to see something comforting and familiar when they first encounter the game on the store shelves.

So it is amusing, to say the least, that the OP takes this infantilized, Disney-fied artwork to be the "true intention" of the designers -- when the exact opposite is actually the case.

So you're actually the lead art designer at BioWare?

If not, you're making so many assumptions it's laughable.

#1:  You're a moron.

#2:  I never said that it was the "true intention" of the designers.  Honestly, for someone so critical who repeatedly refers to anyone and everything as "adolescent," you have no idea how to properly use quotes.

I said I prefered the concept art, which was then used on the package as well, and so I did a mod to make her resemble what I think is a better version of her.

The only amusing thing is the way you're so hung up on anyone liking something different then you, lol.

So, to sum up:  Don't use the mod.  People have different tastes.  Learn to quote properly.  Stop using the word adolescent in every other sentence.

Just downloaded 2.0. Morrigan is now missing a head. (1.0 worked just fine, though.)

The original 2.0 file had a blank .mor file for some reason.  I have no idea why.

I've already remade the zip, checked the file size twice and reuploaded, so try downloading the new file and please confirm for me that its fixed.

Well argued!

Uh, well, OK, how about this quote? :

"I was annoyed that the in game look bore almost no ressemblence to the concept art I've seen or the look on the package."

Here, "box art" is jumbled together with "concept art" -- and both are clearly imagined to have some genetive relation to the final product -- as if these drawings, and not the final product, represent the true intentions of the designers.

I said I was annoyed the in game character didn't resemble the box art which was based on the concept art (which isn't jumbling together, one was simply based on the other).  I never said that was the "true intention" of the designers, as you assumed from absolutely nothing, and quoted from absolutely nothing, lol.

I and others simply prefer that art over what was in game.

In truth the reason Wretched is so invested in this, is because he spent months and months agonizing over how to make Morrigan look the way that she does in-game.

Thats right, Wretched Gnu is secretly Leroy Chen- character artist!

And what is wrong with plastic surgery?

Anyway, if you don't want the mod, you can just leave the thread. no point arguing over something so pointless.

OP, will you be working on a Leliana mod too?

I'm married and the wifey is a model, and I'd never let her undergo plastic surgery, which she wouldn't ever need anyway, lol.

But, thank you for extrapolating all that from me making changes to a video game character that has been widely panned as being ridiculous looking, lol.

The amazing part is what a surprisingly sore change this is for some people, as though it brought out their own insecurities

Omigosh I'm a horrible person for making a character resemble the artwork of her!  lol.

And you know what, EA and Bioware are also absurdly adolescent too.  I mean, have you seen their disneyfied, seventeen and GQ magazine physiques of these characters who are all forcibly made thin!

Shame on you EA and BioWare for arbitrarily forbidding us from making fat characters.  It's liked you would go door to door and force women to get liposuction you bastards.

:D

I'm sitting here right now with screens of the Sacred Ashes trailer up, and the toolset open modding her.

Its a little tough though, since she's got her action face on though, lol.

I'll probably post a screenshot of my progress so far before I go to bed, or tomorrow if not.

Yes, you can't have that child-version with Claudia Blacks voice / personality! :)

The Claudia Black-voice + the current personality / model is a perfect mix.

Making her a child with that voice / personality isn't working as well. :)
