I'm getting extremely low framerates even while using directx 9.  I seem to max out around 15fps according to fraps, even on low settings, 1280x720, and all graphics options turned off.

I have a digital download from Steam.  Here's my version info, from the config utility, game tab:

DragonAge2.exe v1.00
DragonAge2Launcher.exe v1.01
DragonAge2Config.exe v1.03

System Specs:
Processor - Intel® Core™ i7 CPU       M 620  @ 2.67GHz
Clock Speed - 2658 MHz
Ram - 3.92 GB
Display Adapter - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M
VRAM - 1.00 GB
Driver Cersion - 267.24
Sound Adapter - Speakers / Headphones (2- IDT High Definition Audio CODEC)
Driver Version - 6.10.6241.0
OS - Win7 64bit
DirectX version - DirectX 11 (Jun2010) or later

I know I don't have a top of line video card, but I assume I should be getting higher fps than 15 on low settings.  I'm not one to require cutting edge graphics to enjoy a game, but this seems absurdly low.

Anyone have other suggestions besides modifying the inf file for the 267.26 drivers?  I'd prefer not to go that route if I don't have to.

Yes, you should be getting medium frame rates, however, since your card is named wrongly, not being a member of the GT200 family at all, but instead is based on the 8800 card's G92 design, and therefore needs an OLD driver to suit its old silicon. The 7n00, 8n00, and 9n00 cards do not do well on recent Geforce drivers.

huh - did not know that. Thanks for the info.

So is there a particular driver version that's best suited for this card? I had been using 258.96, but updated it after seeing that it didn't run DA2 well either.

Go back as far as possible, literally. Whatever was released with or shortly after Win7 came out.

I appreciate the help. I went back to the drivers from Nov 2009, and now I get high 20s, low 30s fps, consistently.

That's great. Now, Let's not just make any blanket assumptions here, I do know that what you just did is very workable, I've been getting a lot of feedback about it. I think that there have been some of the drivers that have appeared in the year and something since your drivers were new that didn't give the older cards such a miserable time, I just don't know which ones they are.
