My wife just finished the game and I have to say, were I to sum up the experiences... Amazing is the only word that comes to mind...

At first some of the feedback I had seen had purely focused on negativity surrounding the game in comparison to other games, which had me deeply concerned.  To be honest however, there truly is no basis for comparison when you see the game for what it is, an entirely new spin on traditional RPG gameplay.   I will not name names with regards to said alternative RPG titles, but I will speak to DA:O and where we have come.

The game is a huge leap for story driven action RPG and I, like many, had my reservations at first about what my experience was going to be.  Yes there are some cosmetic themes I'm not a fan of, I've commented on those already.   Yes, there is some oversimplification that honestly wasn't necessary but;  I can appreciatively say that Bioware has successfully blown my expectations out of the water again where it comes to an overall gaming experience.

Now... Before the traditional RPG fans start shooting their hate guns, think for just a moment before you respond.   This game is not a "Spiritual Successor", not a "Clone or Replica", not a "duplication of or borrowed concept" from an RPG title.  It wasn't sold and/or marketed that way, yes its based on the Dragon Age lore, set in the Dragon Age world, but no, it isn't Dragon Age: Origins 2, its Dragon Age 2 new story, new experience, new ideas.

If it is to be measured, it should be based on its own merit and on an appropriate categorization of the type of game play.  This is a Story-Driven Action RPG adventure which I know for some is simply "not good enough" and yes you are, in a sense, justified in your positions.  However; simply hoping for something to be more like something else doesn't make it so.

The game is ground breaking in many ways and the writers deserve many accolades for their achievements.   The game itself, although more simplistic than I would prefer, is designed exceptionally well.  For anyone who may still be on the fence, take a leap of faith and dive head first into what may be one of the best RPG stories ever.

For those still not convinced, say what you will but be fair in your assessments... Its not about wrong or right, its about creative difference.

Bioware, Mike L. and team, job well done as far as I am concerned... ;)
