Just started Act III about an hour ago, and am at 44 now.

I did every side quest including all the little fetch quests that get set when you find the item and I got to the Deep Roads around the 34 hour mark. Playing on Hard, for what it's worth. Up to about 5 hours of that is probably not applicable because my friend came around and was talking to me a lot, so I kept pausing and stopping playing. God damn friends trying to talk to you! There'll also be the very occasional time I went to make something to eat, but that's going to be a couple of hours max.

Did people moan about Fable being too short as well? Because the whole game, all quests, and plenty of random messing around, wiping out villages repeatedly and playing the minigames etc, took me 20 hours. That's probably the stand-out time when I was disappointed with the briefness of a game. I don't really play FPS so I haven't suffered the incredibly short playtimes I've heard people complain about in them.

How are some people entering the Deep Roads at 14 hours and then finishing the game at 25? Are the final two acts a lot shorter or something?

That's the impression I get too. I can also imagine there being a lot less sidequests as it goes on. I also wonder about how much difficultly level plays into it since, if I recall correctly, Origins got easier towards the end (archdemon notwithstanding) and this effect was amplified the easier setting it was on.

i'm at 30 Hours and just started act 2, playing mostly on nightmare, then switched to hard in the end.
Doing every quest i can find and enjoying it very much every step of the way.

The final act took me about 5 hours.

30 minutes of that was fighting a dragon.

90 minutes of that was the final battle (well, took me 90 minutes because I had to go out and smoke a couple times while deciding on a decision).

So, yeah, Act 3 is really short, I mean it only has three main story quests. The rest are companions quests pretty much.


Edit: Err, so I beat the game doing litterally everything (except bugged quests), I had the guidbook and right before doing the final questline in each act I went down a checklist to make sure I did everything (and it turns out I didn't need the book, I found everything)... rambling... yeah I beat the game in 35 hours.

Act 1 took me 18 hours.
Act 2 took me 12 hours.
Act 3 took me 5 hours.

Act 1 took 9 hours, Act 2 another 9, and 7 for the final act.

Man I feel like the only one NOT rushing thru it, I hit about 74 hours and have 925 achievements. Got all band of 3 letters. So it's more about what all you have done, then how long till you beat it. To be fair though, people play differently, and some people do some quests and play over and over, while others like me play once or twice, and do everything possible those 2 times. Also I changed the difficulty from hard to normal and sometimes even casual for an achievement. But of those 74 probably 70 was played hours.

PhoenixBlacke I took a long time too. It was 60 hours for me, and I did everything that I could (but I admit I missed a few parts). I'm glad I took a long time, I want to enjoy the newness of a game for as long as I can have it. I love getting as deep into the story as possible.

OH THIS IS KILLING ME...and you want to enjoy a game without blinking for a second??? I am at 28 hours on the first day (well, I haven't joined the deep cliff party yet, or whatever...lol..) and I guess my stats speak volumes. I am PLAYING A GAME, not running a marathon.

You finished Act 1 in 9 hours? It took me the better part of 18. Hopefully Act 2 will be as long...

Beat it last night and finished at around 27 hours. There were a few side quests I did not do and a couple of companions I did not get either. So, replaying it is a must.

It took me just over 38 hours. I thought that i had done everything, but missed some of the collectibles that unlock other quests.

On my second playthrough i'm intending to find everything, which i think will push it over the 40 hour mark.

People probably rush through Act 2 and 3. Act 1 and 2 are about the same length if you do all side quests. The difference is that Act 1 encourage you to do side quests, while you have to "hunt" most of them in Act 2.

It looks like the played clock is running even if you died.  So if youre playing on nightmare like me with no healing mage, youre going to die a ****load.  I think I added 5 hours to my playtime last night just trying to beat the Tranquility fight (which I didnt).  So yeah that probably explains it =P

First playthrough on normal mode using Fenris, Isabela, Anders and Melee RogueHawke: 17 hours according to Steam (I skipped the majority of chat because like most people I read faster than they speak and I found most of them annoying). Was level 22 at game completion

Second Playthrough on Hard Mode Using WarHawke 1hand + shield, Varric, Anders and Isabela: 18 hours and im not even into the deeproads. Still skipping most chat, but looting absolutely everything. Currently level 17,

I just don't understand how people can get 40+ hours in unless they are just staring at a wall for hours on end.
I did every quest I could find, did practically everything, got most achievements (I missed the dark blob big boss battle w/e it is) and I beat it in 31 hours. Even then, I didn't exactly rush. I wandered around a bit.
