I heard in the Wardens Quest that Leliana has an ability that increase the mana for mages, thereby keeping the mages in the fight longer. I may have heard wrong but I quite certain that this is it. This means that rogues has an important role in a team.

I really hope that Dragon Age will have a fully convincing and rewarding Rogue class. In most games I found them rather pointless.

Rogues are full characters here, look at their skills.
I remember how I dropped Neeshka in NWN2 in the end, simply because I couldn't care for the chests anymore. Pitty though, since I liked her.
But Bards will have more than 1 song, so Leliana + Sten (or any other warrior) = (probably) win aswell.

I liked the rogue archetype I made in Oblivion.
Granted I was cheap. I bought apotheosis asap, then blasted the crap out of Umbra, grabbed her sword, then went stealthy like through the game. Especially with 100% chameleon. I was critting from behind with Umbra's Sword, it's a fast death.
