 I just entered the 2nd Act (Year 4 and just how many acts are there?) and I triggered the "Casual Sex" scene in which Isabella meets me in my Mansion bedroom. After the sex, I chose the romance options and we ended up talking about Love and her past relationships. I chose these options because I was just curious to see how it turned out but ultimately, I want to Romance Merrill. So how would this work out? Because I triggered the casual sex scene and talked about love with Isabella, does that cut off any possibility of romances with other characters? Such as Merrill?

Is it like Mass Effect 2 where you can flirt with all of the LIs but ultimately (near the end) you'll be forced to pick one and stick with that one? Or is it open house and you can fully 100% have a romance with multiple characters?

I really want to know because I saved the game and turned it off right after my chat with Isabella, however, there is an AutoSave that occurred right before I began to talk about Love with Isabella so incase this does cut things off with other LIs, I can just load up that Autosave and "recton" my actions.

Keep in mind that I'm just entering the 2nd Act so don't get too deep/specific when trying to answer my question.

EDIT: I just checked and the Autosave is right before the casual sex scene, not after. Either way, this is good if the sex scene or the love conversation cuts off any possible romance with Merrill or even Fenris.

I was actually trying to do this with Fenris and Anders. I flirted with both and I also had a tumble with Isabella, but told her it was just a one night stand. I triggered the Anders romance first, which locked out anything romantically possible with Fenris for me.

I HEARD there's a confrontation between characters if you were pursuing them both, but I guess I must have messed up.

So at what point in the game does it "lock out" other romances? When I first got Merrill I chose some flirty options in her house when she invited me there. However, after that, I flirted with Fenris in his Mansion after his mission. This was all in the 1st Act however. So at what point does the game lock out the romances? Is it later in the 2nd Act or sometime in the 3rd Act?

Had some happy times with Isabella, found out she was just a shallow **** (god, I hate her so damn much), settled with Merrill, who despite was a bit on the loony and irritating side did grow up on me as her companion quest concluded.

Somehow Varric's conclusion mentioned that I stayed with Isabella, despite the fact she deserted the team.

Me too. =( I was still able to flirt with Fenris even when me and Anders were together, but once he moved in in Act 2, I haven't been able to flirt with Fen at all. Oh well, it's for another playthrough then... (I think I like Anders better now anyway. )

The way I did it, after flirting with both, Anders' personal quest came up first. I did that and flirted with him, which culminated in THE romance scene and I chose all of the options that pretty much said "I love you, stay with me".

And when I finally got the options to have a conversation with Fenris in his mansion and do his quests, all of the flirting options were gone, same with all the other characters... except for Aveline for some reason.

had casual sex w/ isabela and was still able to bed merrill afterward. i told her not to rush things and she left... i don't know what happens next - hadn't had a chance to play since.

That is weird. If you were romancing both Anders and Fenris, then I wonder if what you "heard" is actually true.

Again, in Mass Effect AND Mass Effect 2 you could romance atleast 2 characters and if you did so, there would be a moment where you are forced to choose.

The reason why I want to romance Isabella, Fenris, and Merrill at the same time because I literally do not know who I want to chose so I want to flirt with all 3 of them until I get a better feel of them and ultimately I'll be able to narrow it down to one. However, before I do so, I want to know that it is possible for me to do so. I do not want to be clumsy and romance Fenris but then find out that I am locked out of romancing Merrill or Isabella.

Romanced Fenris first, and since he left, But it locked him at friendship. Then Anders went all crazy on rivalmance (still fanning myself) and now he's locked. I'm stuck, can't decide. Would like to know if Fenris will get locked or he'll comment.

If you invite Anders over he'll walk in say something like, "I thought you and Fenris...that beast" and I'm not sure what to choose to say. I answered that he "left", checked Fenris later, he had his ribbon still on. Did I lock him out?

I feel so bad for Anders...he's my mage. >_<;; having Anders vs. Fenris in same party is interesting though. They get on each other. Fenris even ranted on Anders if you bring him on Anders' Questioning Beliefs in Act 2, after beating the Templar and saving the girl.

I ended up romancing Isabella and Merrill at the same time, somehow. So in the final act when you talk to your party one last time before the final battle, my character made out with both of them while they're standing next to each other. Pretty hilarious.
