Direct from THBS:

You may have spotted this on the DA2 website or the DA2 forums, but let's make it 'official'.  Any purchase made through the Bioware Store, from now until some unknown future date, will be received with a little bonus - an in-game item for Dragon Age 2.  Better yet, you'll get the code early - with the order confirmation email, which you should receive shortly after you place the order.  There's no requirement of ordering a specific product or minimum total sum of the order. It is, however, only for the PC/Mac supposedly... (Edit: And XB360....no PS3 I'm afraid)

If you're interested in some trivia, the descriptive quote of this item is from:  —Ser Pelman the Fierce, heard speaking to a merchant the night before Pelman was found strangled in his family’s keep
----------

The last-ditch sales of the few Litho's that were held back will get a specific day listed for their inevitable release, but not a time.  The specific days will be announced likely next week, so don't worry about refreshing the Stores page many times throughout the day...at least not yet.  It hopefully doesn't need to be said, but assuming you are one of the few lucky people to grab one of these Litho's, it will indeed count as an 'order', thus you should get the piece of DLC.

I don't mind EA's project $10 strategy to combat used game sales, but all of this Dragon Age II DLC they're currently promoting is ludicrous. There are just so many items, too many for any sane individual to ever hope to collect. There are items for pre-ordering the game before a certain date. Items for purchasing the game from a certain retailer... at a certain time... from a certain employee... I'm being sarcastic here, but honestly I don't think we've seen this type of DLC scatter strategy, done at this scale, ever before.

I know the virtual items have a very minor impact on the actual game, so I am not all that upset over it. However, I do feel that if someone buys a game at launch, they should have access to all the content made for that game. In other words, the customer's choice of retailer should not dictate the armor / weaponry their avatar has access to.

Completely off topic...but yeah, I agree. I'm fed up with the pre-order bonus's and cut content, etc.

However, in this case, it's just a stupid belt. It will have no effect on the game, and will most likely be garbage by the time you get out of the Deep Roads.

That makes no sense at all. You're getting a game, that you play through. That's what they owe you when you buy a game, not other bonus items they create as part of a specific strategy to make more money.

I see this argument all the time, but no one can explain it to me beyond the fact  they feel a sense of entitlement that is not warranted in the slightest.

You're right. As a loyal, day one customer, I do feel a sense of entitlement. That is why I am comfortable with EA's project $10, where new copies of Mass Effect 2 came with a Cerberus Network Code and new copies of Dead Space 2 came with the online multiplayer code.

This new scatter strategy is different entirely, where specific in game items are rewarded to customers who fulfill a certain criteria. It is unrealistic for any one customer to be expected to collect each and every piece of content.

Again, I understand that this is only weapons and armor that we are talking about. Items that have little to no impact on the overall game; nonetheless, I am nervous about where this strategy could go from here... What's next? Rewarding customers with new party members for pre-ordering the game from certain retailers? Or bonus quests? Maybe I'm old fashioned and I shouldn't be hanging on to this false sense of entitlement, but when I buy a game new on the day it is released, I just don't want to worry if I have a complete product in my hands.

I feel bad hijacking this thread, so I'll reserve any future posts for a separate thread in a different forum, but perhaps this is just a topic that we can agree to disagree on, Tocquevillian.

Not likely. They're not going to have the devs make something requiring a significant time and work investment just so 15% of the players can experience it. Mass Effect 2 did the same thing by the way -- there was exclusive armor for ordering from Gamestop, and another set for Amazon. Amazon's armor later became part of another armor DLC.

Yes

and new copies of Dead Space 2 came with the online multiplayer code.

No. Providing a bonus for purchasing new is perfectly acceptable. Cutting content for not doing so is not. Gamestop recently had a lawsuit brought against them for not acknowledging cut content...frankly, they should file a lawsuit against EA/THQ/Activision for the same thing. All parts of the game advertised on the box should be available right out of the box.

We will be announcing the dates that each of the lithos will be released, but not the times. There are a VERY limited number available, so they will be limited to 1 per customer. If someone attempts to order more than 1, their entire order will be canceled. (Sorry to be so tough, we are just trying to be fair.)

The dates are as follows:
Normandy - 3/14
Grunt - 3/15
Thane - 3/15
Tali - 3/16
Character 3 Pack - 3/16
Legion - 3/17
Miranda - 3/18
Miranda Legion Pack - 3/18
