I agree with the other poster that they very fact that this quest got so many people emotional means Bioware did something right.

While I agree that they did make your family incredibly tragic (my first playthrough only Gamlen survived... and I was looking for a way to knife him for being a scum bag) I think your mom dying was a good touch. Or at least make it a choice that either one of your siblings dies, but you can save your mom or vice versa. Give us a choice of one evil over another.
