DA2 needed one more year so they could make some more unique areas. If DA turns into madden I am done.

I know there are a few bugs that still need to be fixed. Unlike other titles from Bioware, this [score] was kind of a rush job. EA really wanted to capitalize on the success of Origins, so the game was really being pushed hard to be released now.

From now on I'm pirating all games published by EA. This really ticks me off.

Inon Zur won't be doing a score for an EA game ever again and his account and games locked out after that quote.

Thanks for the link. I like Inon Zur, EA business aside.

But it's nice to hear someone who worked on DA2 actually say it.

Indeed.

Just admit you rushed it out because EA executives wanted you to.

Sometimes that's not possible if you want to keep your job.

…or maybe you like to rush out products also? Again, your silence makes us assume you don't mind being EA's [insert your favorite term, perhaps thrall?].

That is unfair. I have been on countless long haul group projects since college started and no one likes to rush. No one. Working in a team is difficult, but working under a time crunch is utter maddness. You lose sleep and stress and worry and you can't eat because Ricky The ****** won't do his share of the work. Thinking that BioWare doesn't mind being EA's "thrall" is also uncalled for. If you want to strawman them, go ahead, but I highly doubt that they are snickering, evil gremlin charicatures out to ruin your gaming experience for fun and profit. Can't comment on the writers being gremlins or not, though.

Sorry if I misunderstood you, but this bit was just silly.

If they wanted to push out a rush job, they should have just gotten Obsidian to do it. Worked well with KotOR 2 and FO:NV.

Having talked to two friends at work about games in general today(didn't bring up any Bioware title) we all came to the conclusion that streamlining/dumb-down/broad appeal is the norm of the times.

Cut this save money/time, cut that save money/time, take a short cut here save money/time.

EA really needs to learn to let their subsidiaries work on their own. they always do this.

In my opinion, Bioware's Mass Effect team should have a lot of power over EA because I think, at this point, Bioware doesn't need EA to market Mass Effect 3 for it. If it's true that EA is bullying Bioware's Dragon Age team, then I think the Mass Effect team should bully EA in return.

I wanted to believe this post but when I found out you don't even have badges for the bioware games, I've lost interest in your brain fart. Stay cheesy though :-)

My games are registered on another, much older account, with a really bad name. My opinion has no value because of that?

Even if said opinion is a Link?

I've nothing against your opinion, so let's just leave it at that. What's important is not all share your implied assertion about DA2 or Bioware itself.

:D

I'll admit I'm not knowledgeable in such issues, but what exactly could they do about it?

Some people here seem to confuse bullying and not having any choice in the first place.

It has about the same amount of dev time as DA2. If they screw up the final game in the trilogy then Bioware will look REALLY bad.

And now we have a $300 million MMO flop called SW:TOR cooking in EA's womb. So sad to see this being done to BioWare.

Do I think DAII is perfect? No. Do I think DAII is the best RPG in a decade? Yes. Regardless of the timeframe, it's still a fantastic RPG. If they had worked on it for another year, would it have been better? Of course.

However, would it have been better in ways that would silence the "haters" on BSN right now? No. Everything would be the same, except dungeons would look different from one another. Maybe we'd have gotten to play out that first year in Kirkwall. Who knows?

But the game would play the same, the companions would still have static outfits, and the dialogue would be the same. Luckily, those are three of the things that make DAII the best RPG in a decade.

So, nice going EA. You cracked the whip, and it worked. BioWare turned out a rush-job that manages to still be better than the five-years-in-development preceding title. Please don't make a habit of it.

LOL!

You know, there's nothing WRONG with having a game take place inside a city-its just that the city has to be mammothian, amazingly complex and with many sections to be that fun.

Planescape Torment took place in Sigil, a city.
Loved it.

The city just has to be varied enough to warrant it. Say, a dock zone that looks reaaally different from the Industrial region, a poor ghetto, a wildly rich city, maybe a Royal Forest within the grounds, an ancient cementary...

Its pretty clear from comments from lead developers like Gaiden that the leadership and management Bioware is wholly complicit in this process.

I mean, theres a reason why DA:O lead designer left

http://blog.brentkno...08-summer-2009/

I was fairly certain Dragon Age would transition towards more of a Mass Effect experience, which while enjoyable is not the type of role-playing game I play. Could I be the lead designer on such a title? Certainly… though if I were going to work on a game adopting a set-in-stone protagonist I’d rather work on something lighter, like a shooter.

I’m not the same person I was when I started, and BioWare isn’t the same company.

You guys shouldn't just automatically scapegoat EA for everything that goes wrong, and then continue to idolize bioware as some kind of game development company that can do no wrong.

I don't think that a game that hasn't even been released yet can be called a "flop".

u know what?
we hardcore fans must push EA some more

for what we think we need.
Not everything can be achieved but some of them might.

Isn't that one of the reasons we gather in this forum?

Yeah speaking of the music, I still launch DAO and let the splash stay up because it plays that awesome intro song. Not true with DA2, in fact you really don't hear much music while playing DA2.

They could have never agreed to the EA buyout. Instead, the doctors sold out for the $$$ and now their company is going to ****. Enjoy the free marketing cash!
