You feel it, while you're playing DA2. The reuse of maps, the lack of different item looks and icons and so on.

Except that DAO was exactly the same in that regard, how many complaints have therw been about all the armour looking similar. So far to me DA2 looks better in terms of the design of the various armours, robes and items.

Yeah, but at least every robe had an inventory icon, now every ring has the same icon etc. And I found about two different kinds of robes during the whole game plus the armor of the champion. Or to use a quote of redlettermedia.com regarding the Star Wars prequels: It feels rushed and not thought out, probably because it was rushed and not thought out.

The real shame is, that there is still greatness in this game. The characters are cool, the party banter is much better than in DA:O with much more variants. The story become quiet good later in the game, without just a big evil that is just evil to be evil like the darkspawn or the reapers. So the writers did their job, I guess, it's the technical side, that drags the game down.

I hardly noticed there was a musical score. There was no memorable music at all.

You didn't notice it because it is the same music from DA. I listened to it on my headphones and it doesn't even play half the time. Suddenly I'll be standing there and it will start, but yeah its the same music from the game before.

Can someone please tell me the point of most of the armor and robes are only made for your character. So you really can not upgrade your companions much. It was the first thing I noticed in the game that annoyed the hell out of me. I swear if this game is just all based in Kirkwall the City and it just ends I am going to send the disc to EA personally and tell they are trash. I don't even care about a refund, just the satisfaction of telling them off will appease me....lol Image IPB

I'm kinda shocked because of that News.
Wasn't there a statement a few years ago, that Bioware would still be independent of EA when it comes to the developement of their games?

Guess the cake was a lie, what a shame.

Major respect for Inon Zur.
Love his music, and I'm glad he is honest.

I know truly irratonal how people continue to defend Dragon Age 2 when even some of its design staff come out against it. You should take his advice Iinfinity and get off the forum to go back to the store and return it

I am going to say this to all those who were being apologists and fanbois and those self same people, who flamed me and said I was wrong about the rush job, the lessening of the game content and a myriad of other issues that have finally come home to roost.

Told.
You.
So.

But the game would play the same, the companions would still have static outfits, and the dialogue would be the same. Luckily, those are three of the things that make DAII the best RPG in a decade.

So, there we have it, the thing we all feared is even acknowledged by a BioWare employee. And here I thought EA was all about quality these days.

Heh.

I must be detecting sarcasm.

Check how many franshises and studios have disappeared after EA acquisition.

This is not my opinion, but published fact that a person can look up themselves.

There's hardly anything BioWare can do about it.

If they complain, EA could pull the plugs. Then BioWare would have to find a different publisher who would be interested in funding the game. And that ain't easy.
Then again, BioWare is a part of EA. So I doubt that EA would just "pull the plugs".

I don't know what BioWare can do about it, provided they want to do something about it.

Bioware can't do anything about it. If a dev speaks out, they would likely be violating a NDA and sued. They would also be blacklisted from working in the gaming industry. It doesn't matter if it's justified or the right thing to do. And a lot of people would hate if a person spoke out because people see it as unprofessional to speak out against the company they work for or about the mistakes it makes.

Sort of a case of be careful about what you wish for.  When Elevation Partners injected $300 million into forming Bioware/Pandemic everything looked so bright. Where is Pandemic now?

When the VG Holdings, Elevation deal went down with EA buying Bioware/Pandemic for over $800 million (their largest purchase) I wonder if the resultant growth is all that Bio hoped for.

Funny, at the time of the Elevation deal this is what Zeshuk said:

Greg Zeschuk, joint CEO of BioWare Corp, said that the cash infusion will take pressure off both companies to rush games to market before their time. "Great video games don't roll off the assembly line-they are an art form, as lovingly crafted as a film, musical score, or novel," Zeschuk said. "That means taking the time to nurture top talent, then letting that talent work its magic. Fans are the real winners in this deal, because we will now have the resources and creative discretion to make the right decisions for our products. This is truly a new way of doing business."

Have you ever noticed that this win-win strategy rarely ever works out too well for us lowly gamers  Yer know, creative discretion vs. bottom line--"assuming control."

Jade Empire was universally critisized as being a meh game, not to mentioned consolized and dumbed down, in the exact same way they are doing now.

Universally criticised? IGN gave Jade Empire a 9.9:P

The music of DA2 sounds like he simply rearranged some tunes from Origins. He really must have been in a hurry, or simply didn't care.

Maybe some good can come of this, and BioWare can point to this and then go tell the EA suits and puppets to get off their back and let them actually develop.

But looking at Mythic, Westwood and others... at least I can hope ^^

I'd rather play another game of BG2 or DAO...

EDIT: I just hope ME3 won't be rushed like DA2 apparently have been

Just out of interest. In light of this slip, do the rest of the Dev's still stand by the quotes they made in this thread :- social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/141/index/5795081&lf=8
