- Huge step-down from DA:O in terms of RPG
- Consolized.
- No replayvalue
- Rushed
rate the game on a scale 1-10 once and for all!

I give it a 8.
My only issues is act 1, some rpg streamlined and that it was rushed(copy pasty places)

Sorry guys, from what my mate just told me by text and the fact I uninstalled it before it worked, I'd give it a 0/10.

7 graphic issues and reused maps are a big no no for me.

What? Another thread gathering the opinions of the small percentage of Bioware's customers that spend time on the forums.
Thats conclusive...
8...
...not on a scale where anything below a 9 is failure but where its "very good but with room for improvement". I would give DAO a 7.5 on this more realistic scale (based on the game at launch... user mods put it closer to 8.5 IMO).

I pray that they take another year on Mass Effect 3 if its going to be nearly as disappointing as this.

I love the game. Worth an 8.5 overall for me. Combat is much improved, I like the dialogue system better than the text and silent main character from Origins, strong story and there's a solid cast of characters. Disappointments for me were the fact that all dungeons/warehouses etc looked the same, would have preferred more development time to make every new area feel fresh and give the overall game more polish. Needs more areas to explore as well, any quest that took place outside Kirkwall, like the dungeons, all felt the same which was a major let down for me. The ending was a bit open ended too, not sure if that was for DLC purposes more than for the next game, but overall a great game and what I've come to expect from BioWare, which is why they're my favorite developer. I know what to expect and they are yet to produce a game I haven't loved.

It was a HUGE letdown compared to DA:O. I felt like I was in a choose your own adventure book rather than a character in an immersive world like I did in DA:O. Everything felt wooden. The recycled maps were annoying (and can we say weird walls in doorways/unopenable doors overused?) and forgettable. The characters were hollow and interactions with them were painful due to not knowing what was going to come out of your character's mouth after selecting a choice you THOUGHT was a good one (so many did not even come close to what was selected).
The romance I had was entirely forgettable and unmoving. There was no sense of closeness. No interaction with characters outside set parameters. It was just...a hack and slash with a few RPG elements stapled in.
This would have made a more interesting novel or movie, perhaps, but as a game? It was dismal. Certainly some graphics were improved, and I didn't mind character creation (though didn't like that I couldn't tweak the preset Hawke character at all)...but they ruined Alistair! He looked hideous! (Yes, I'm an Alistair fan!)
Anyway, long and short...it was such a letdown and I cannot understand why a successful model was not expanded on rather than replaced. I didn't care for Mass Effect. I don't care for MassEffectDragonAge2.

It has good moments but I can't get behind the changes to the combat flow, the art style and the spell mechanics. A good story and some good characters are stuck in a badly rushed, thoroughly mediocre RPG that has been hacked up into DLC in order to make as much cash as fast as possible. I want to like this game because Origins was so good but in hindsight this game has lost that magic and that old feeling, it can't outdo it's predecessor and spends the whole game in it's shadow.

Unfortunately I'm going to rate this 2, a 3 would be pushing it.
This was one of the games I have been really looking forward to and couldn't wait to play. Sadly I was disappointed, like a lot have mentioned the locations were very copy and pasted and it wasn't very fun to constantly revisit the same areas, I was expecting more cities or areas. I also found quite a number of bugs, at one point I couldn't communicate with Isabelle and therefore couldn't finish the quest so had to load a game from 1 hr before.
The lack of being able to communicate with party members was also a disappointment, one of the reason's I liked the Dragon Age series was the fact you could really connect with the characters and get drawn into the story which sadly DA2 lacked. To have a 18+ rating I thought it would be a little more intimate then kissing and cuddling, and definitely more romance, or was it due to the bad language and over the top gore?
Being able to change the story and having a relationship is something that I really admire in Bioware's games and makes them more fun to play.
Another thing is the ending, it would be nice to have a cinematic to look forward to after you have finished the game as a proper ending, and not of a still painting with talking.

6/10
I totally loved DA:O. I did a full play through right before DA2 in anticipation. DA2 may have some similar lore, but change the names/back history and this game is next to nothing like its predecessor. It's very dumbed down, even more linear, and actually has less features in comparison to the original.
I also enjoyed ME2 and had a very positive view of Bioware and their past titles. Politics and views on things like free speech and DRM play no part in this post. Honestly and without any bias one way or the other, this game is lacking and a huge disappointment to me.
Edit: To be completely fair, I am revising the score from 5/10 to 6/10, because it IS better than the average game churned out. But even more than that, I have not completed the full story as yet and I will return to this post and re-evaluate this score appropriately.![=]](https://lvlt.forum.bioware.com/public/style_emoticons/default/sideways.png)
Edit: Three weeks later and another play through, and I firmly believe the overall quality of the game is a 6/10, as a separate game. When comparing it as a sequel to DA:O it really is deficient in almost every way and I have to give it a 3/10. This has been a very disheartening experience and I really regret buying this game as it was certainly not worth the price being charged. The value just is not there.
