I really, really like the world of Thedas, most of my enjoyment from either game comes from reading up and discovering new things about the dragon age universe. There's still so much to discover about the world, I mean, Thedas is only one continent, right? And the Black city? I really hope a third installment gets a green light, and that EA gives the team ample time to develop.

It has good moments but I can't get behind the changes to the combat flow, the art style and the spell mechanics. A good story and some good characters are stuck in a badly rushed, thoroughly mediocre RPG that has been hacked up into DLC in order to make as much cash as fast as possible. I want to like this game because Origins was so good but in hindsight this game has lost that magic and that old feeling, it can't outdo it's predecessor and spends the whole game in it's shadow.
Spot on. If it wasn't a Bioware title, I would have given up on it by now. As it stands, I'm slowly trying to force myself to soldier through it to see if any of the plot hooks from Origins get a bit more love.

Sorry I am a console gamer and this played like a dream. Awesome story, great character dialogue, and vastly improved combat. My only worry is that they screw with this series and turn it into an mmorpg (cries a little thinking about KOTOR).

Feels like a button masher, poor story, forgettable characters, no depth to the world, overly simplified
Am I the only DA2-PC gamer that actually uses the "Pause at the Beginning of Combat" option and actually pauses regularly during my fights?
So many people keep saying "button mashing combat" this and that, when the space bar is always there to queue up your next action for every member ANY TIME YOU WANT IT.
It would be like being at a steak house and whining that they didn't bring you A-1 - but after never asking the waiter for it - the combat's as mashy as you CHOOSE TO MAKE IT in DA2.
Sure, some combats run better (and quicker) by not micromanaging them, and as they say "time is money" but the concept of being able to slack on easy fights has been part and parcel for Bioware titles since they first started receiving acclaim - do you really want every fight to be biting your nails to have to micromanage every little bit?
Even the predecessor DA:O only made me heavily micromanage about 20-30 fights in the game on Normal - thusfar, with DA2 I've had roughly the same number of encounters that I've micromanaged considering my portion through the game.
[Additional Note: My statements come from the viewpoint of a MELEE ROGUE player - I have noticed my wife on a 2H WARRIOR playthrough has yet to micromanage once when I've watched her play]

The lack of being able to communicate with party members was also a disappointment, one of the reason's I liked the Dragon Age series was the fact you could really connect with the characters and get drawn into the story which sadly DA2 lacked. To have a 18+ rating I thought it would be a little more intimate then kissing and cuddling, and definitely more romance, or was it due to the bad language and over the top gore?
Being able to change the story and having a relationship is something that I really admire in Bioware's games and makes them more fun to play.
You do realize you go to their "home base" to chat with them right?
Just like you had 95% of your chatter with companions over the fire in DA;O...

I think anyone who is rating it lower than a 5 is failing to remain objective; Perhaps they're disappointed that it isn't as good as the first game, but it certainty doesn't rank below the likes of Risen (6.3 user score) in terms of quality.

And the only reason this game even gets a 4 out of 10 is for the graphics, thats it

I give it a 4 out of 10 huge disappointment, just plain utter garbage. Seems like developers did a half assed job on this. The term "cookie cutter" comes to mind in terms of the maps and the lack of content in the game. Its also far to linear of a story line which gives it no replay value what so ever. If you finish this game as one class then you have seen everything no need to try and play it again as another class, no point it doesnt change any of the story at all.
And the only reason this game even gets a 4 out of 10 is for the graphics, thats it
My suggestion is, stick to 1 type of dialogue option, Good, Sarcastic/humorous, Serious/Angry. Also playing a mage is pretty different, I found anyways.
