On its own in the current market?

8

Compared to its prequel?

5

its not a bad game, but it reaks of a rush job, which a casual gamer wouldnt notice, but many of us here would. The recycled maps is pretty much the main issue. It seriously retracts from any enjoyment of the game beyond half way through. Comparing it to DAO, alot of things where removed, simply wernt done as well, lacked any sort of depth etc.

I'd go with a 8, or a solid B.

yeah i would agree with that i think alot of us are disapointed becouse this just isnt bioware videogame gold quality. i think the reviewers dont want bioware losing an edge they are major players and have kept fueling amazing ideas over the years thats why i purchased it regardless of what others said i support bioware

6. Anyone who gives any more than that needs to play more games, I genuinely don't mean this in an insulting way. Bioware have just taken advantage of loyal fans.

7 it's a good game in it's own right but no where near on par with some of the great stuff Bioware have done this gen (ME1 and ME2) Still everyone can make a bad game now and then (well in Squares case these days it's always)

Or, they judge the game on different criteria.  I haven't finished the game yet so my score may fall but condescension must be answered.  :P

6.2

The mechanics running the game are all good and everything. Some of the story is good, the characters are all good to decent, depending on who they are, the combat is pretty good, and the story is decent.

On the other side, the tactical part of gameplay has been almost nullified for various reasons, the locations are surprisingly bland, the dungeons are all copy/pasted (which drives me insane; it's nothing but laziness on the dev's part in all honesty), the lack of being able to outfit other characters with better gear is annoying, some of the voice acting is mediocre, and the first act of the story gets boring very quickly without any reason to do anything other than "get money 'cause you're poor".

There are improvements in some areas, but overall it's much less satisfying than DA:O or really any other recently released Bioware game. Overall, I'm quite disappointed.

and I say that as a long time baldu'rs gate fan and Mass Effect junkie : )

To me, bioware is only capable of creating 10/10 games.   So a 7 means,  wow.  You guys ****ed up big time.

+10, just finished.... I can't wait for my next play through...

Its a shame that so many people have beaten the game down without even getting past the first act. I think, without comparing it to other games in the genre, it is a phenomenal game. And for the record I'm not comparing it to anything else because I think it sets a new tone for Story-Driven Action RPG, but that's my two cents.

 gonna go with a 4.

Combats been improved in the sense that its quicker and less sluggish, but everything else about it aside from the stat system is a step down in terms of difficulty and strategy involved.

Every single other aspect of the game is the worst i've seen out of bioware in my entire decade and a half of buying their games.

Story is badly written and feels half finished, dialogue choices are meaningless and dont say quite what they should. Partner interactions have been cut to a bare minium to the point that you dont really care about them. The dialogue itself is also fairly badly written, a terrible tragedy befalls hawke later in the game, and the only quip out of said compansions is a witty or sarcastic remark.

I'm also not sure why the same cave, beach, and house are being used as 70% of the content of the game, but its jarring and dissapointing. It almost feels like a joke.

Did I mention most of the characters are badly written?

Merril is elf Liara, Isabella literally makes a sex joke every 2-4 lines of dialogue, I could go on, but I wont.

4, maybe a 5 if it wasnt so dissapointing and I took it as a standalone game. These are the kinds of games that are lampooned for years to come.

Beat it today. Completed most of the quests except for Forbidden Knowledge, Lost Swords, Who Needs Rescuing, and likely a bunch of "Found random item, turn in for monies" quests.

I was underwhelmed for lots of reasons. I liked the characters, though. And when the writing was good (Qunari), it was good. So... 4ish? 4.5. The game is playable, but I don't think I'll touch it again.

2/10
Some of the conversations made me chuckle but that is the only saving grace to an otherwise soulless game. For shame Bioware, for shame.

Feels like a rushed game, very linear nothing to explore. DA:O was better all around, that was a true rpg, DA2 is just a hack and slash waste of time, if this is how the rest of the series is going to play then it is dead to me. To bad, was looking forward to this game. =(
